As a newly single lady I am curious if anyone has had good results with online dating? or is it just a bad idea?

I've had a couple dates, but I wouldn't call it successful...at all. I even paid for a membership at Plenty of Fish.

I haven't used any dating websites, but I met a guy that played an online game that I did. We started talking and have been in love since. I guess it just depends on the people.

I've never dated online intentionally (like through a dating site), but I've met a couple of girls online that I've ended up dating. They were both CRAZY, but then again that seems to be my type.

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of.

I've been on okcupid for a while after i had a friend who was very successful on there. I haven't actually gone on any dates because they always seem to get cancelled for some reason. I mean it's not a bad idea, but warning you will get creeps just looking for some action. I had no guy today message go mmmmm you look like fun like ewwwww couldn't come up with anything better than that??

oh and I always try and add them on facebook before I actually like make plans or anything just to make sure they aren't pyschos or like a 50 yr old trying to get with a 20 yr old you know.

I never intentionally looked for online dating. I wrote a couple of erotic stories that I wanted some critique on so submitted them and jumped into the sites chat program and got to talking to some of the other authors.

I discovered that it was a great place filled with some wackos and filled with some great people. I ended up doing the online dating thing and met them this past summer when I visited America and we spent a fair bit of time together. If I was not so in love with China (the country) I might just have stayed.

I made an account on OK Cupid and started talking to people. Three days later, one guy I had been talking to asked me out and three days and three dates later he was my boyfriend. We have been together for 8 months and we are so very happy! He is my first boyfriend and I think he will be my only. Never hurts to give online dating a try! I am lucky to have found the right guy the first time around, and only six days after I started looking he was mine!

I had an online relationship for about a year but we had to break it off because we didn't see each other as much as we'd have liked.

Yeah the only experience I know of with okcupid is a friend whose boyfriend was hooking up with random girls from there.

I met one of my partners through OK Cupid and we have been dating for 7 months now. I would call that a level of success.

Online dating can be successful if you use caution and due diligence. It's like picking someone up at the bar and really have no clue who they really are. Be careful. I have had some great experiences, in fact I met some great girls but some were so lonely that they would lie to me and most sadly they would lie to themselves in what they want and who they are.

Didn't work out well for me AT ALL. I've known multiple people who have had bad experiences with online dating.

I have had absolutely horrible luck with online dating. I'm sure it could work if you really check things out before you get too involved with them.

I've never done online dating before (I am fairly young), but I'm checking out this okcupid site

I've also heard mixed reviews about okcupid- it's free, which makes it easy to try, but also means you have a lot more trolls/creepers than you would if it was a paid site (so I hear).

Has anyone ever looked at Geek2Geek? It seems less general than okcupid and more fun

I've been on okcupid for a while. I've hooked up with some awesome people and made good friends from there, but my town is small and I feel like I've seen every queer girl's profile. It gets especially awkward when going to a bar accidentally turns into an okcupid meetup.

I feel like whether okc sucks or not depends on where you're located, but it's free and worth a shot, I guess.

lol, exactly the same. I'm on okcupid but I live in a small town and I don't want a long distance relationship. I also feel like I've read every lesbian and bi-sexual profile in my area.

Never done it before, but I feel like once I'm out of college I might have to.
