I'm not sure I understand since this is in the contest section. Are you talking about being upset at not winning contests?

Or just being upset?

I agree with HTSTM (hope i'm abbreviating that correctly) this is more of a topic for social forum, unless you're talking about contests.

There are times that I feel like I need to keep things bottled up until I calm down enough to express myself rationally.

Hey! Everybody makes mistakes. It's hard to find the right section for certain things sometimes. We've all done it.

Anyways...
I have a hard time bottling things up. I used to be bad about it doing it and I had a kind of nervous breakdown! Lol. It was something really bad though, that I had gone through and it caused me a couple of years worth of pain. So with the help of my partner, I learned to quit doing it so much. After so long, it's kind of challenging to get things out once you're accustomed to keeping it all in. I rarely keep it in anymore and sometimes I do explode a little when things hit really hard (for instance 1 minute ago!) Lol. But mostly, I try to get it out in the open. However, I do get my feelings hurt to the point to where things need clearing up. I guess I can be a little sensitive sometimes.

I hate keeping my anger to myself because nothing ever gets resolved like that.

I wasn't as much trying to criticize as I was trying to understand the question.

It can be frustrating sometimes entering contests a lot on here and never winning...so the person could be upset about that!

When I get mad, it'll come out. Either in the form of a confrontation, angry letter, or a pissed off phone call, it's coming out. When I bottle up, my anger turns almost explosive. I just like to release it in small doses.

I can't bottle any of my feelings up. In my experience, bottling up your feelings in ANY relationship is poison to the relationship. It breeds resentment, and then can cause you to explode. Generally, if I am hurt or angry (which, in my opinion anger is really just being hurt and trying to hide it with bravado) I will sometimes take a few minutes to calm down and get the first wave of really strong emotion out of me. Then sit down with my partner and talk about it openly. That always ends well.
