Should Eden carry Sounding devices?

lashes2000 lashes2000
It is always a chore to find devices used for sounding. I would like to see Eden start to carry some. What do you think?

Yes, that would be a great addition to their inventory.

No, I do not think enough people would be interested.

Sounding is a squick for me, but I absolutely believe that Eden should carry at least one.

I' like to try one but I would want something pretty cheap. That way if I did not like it the lose would be minimal. I ave played with the tip of a bullet vibe and enjoyed that but it only goes in about 3/8", the vibration was pretty nice.

If you can find some reasonably priced, you can suggest them here. There's a new one each month.

It's not for us but I do think it should be represented here.

if your intrested we found that metal crochet needeles work well. Although they are not that long the price is minimal and sizes vary.

"Not that long" ... how long would you want them to be? Crochet needles are at least 5 inches long, aren't they? How deep do you put a sound?

(I hope this doesn't come off as rude, I'm genuinely curious.)

I'd actually like to vote for an option that's not listed here.

Even though I had always thought sounding was a 'squick-no!" activity for me (and me being on the receiving end still sure is!), my partner and I recently discovered that the inside of his urethra is very sensitive (in a good way), so now I've been cautiously curious about sounding, and we'll probably try it out on him in the mid-term future.

So *I* would think it would be great if Eden carried them.

BUT.

Sounding is one of those activities that can go wrong if you don't know what you're doing, and I would say the majority of Eden's customer base is not educated about urethral sounding. I think that it's probably actually better if Eden doesn't stock sounding devices, so that people won't think "hey this'll be a lark!" and try sounding without putting in the proper research. As it is, the fact that it's hard to find sounds means that only people who really want them will put in the effort to seek them out.

So, that's my thought. They're a niche item, probably for good reason.

That said, I'm probably going to be a future customer. (Lawd, I never thought I'd be saying that!)

Some good thinking there. I understand that it can cause infections if not damage. I can see this as definite grey area.

Can someone clue me in on what a sounding device is? I have never heard of them.

*possible squick-out warning*

Urethral sounding is stimulating the genitals by inserting something (usually slender rods called 'sounds') into the urethra. You can do it to men or women.

The sounds are generally made of stainless steel because you've *got* to be able to sterilize them.

At least, that's what I know. Somebody who's more experienced could definitely add more --- I've always tuned out conversations about sounding because the thought of it being done to me makes me cringe. Of course, to each his/her own, and to my partner, apparently, urethral stimulation! It might have surprised me, but if it makes him feel good, as long as we do a lot of research so we can avoid infections, hey, I'm always happy to learn a new skill!

At the same time, though---it's not really the retailer's responsibility to make sure that consumers don't harm themselves. So maybe not stocking them due to safety risks is overprotective.

So, I don't know. Open for discussion, but at the end of the day of course Eden will make the choice that's right for them And if it's not to carry sounds, I'll find them elsewhere, but still stay with Eden for everything else I can.

It is not rude.

I am his wife and I have inserted them in as far as I could without losing the end. He actually has said he would not mind if they were longer. And remember just because it is that long, does not mean you have to use it all. What ever you are comfortable with is key.

I agree. And I think like for ourselves we could definitely clue people on as to the safety aspect of it.

OMG ouch! Thanks for informing me. That does not sound like something my partner would like.

There are a lot of toys already on EF that could potentially cause safety issues (flavored lubes causing yeast infections, electro-shock toys, people using non-flared toys for anal, etc.)... no matter what, there is always going to be 'that person'.... I don't think it's EF's responsibility to make sure people are safe. Although, they do a great job of educating about toy safety and cleanliness and compatibility, so I'm sure that if they took the same care with sounding devices, it would be fine.

EF carries floggers and other BDSM products that can cause significant harm, as well; it's up to users to make sure they are able to care for themselves and make responsible choices.

That being said, this is not something I would be interested in purchasing--but I don't buy from lots of categories (I don't buy couples toys or male masturbators, but why not carry them?)

Yes, we think that EF should carry at least one or two products (probably one plug and one sound/set)... What do you think?
