I want in... am I in? How?!

I am not sure what the difference is between the review program versus the description review program? Is this the program where you get random toys sent to you? I got one sent to me out of the blue once before. I also got one for my birthday. I would like to get randomly assigned things.

The DR review program is a review program where you send a message to Gary or the administrator stating that you would like to be considered for the DR review program. In this program, your job is to write a descriptive review about the product you are sent without leaning on your experience with it. Thus, this will be what people see when they go to the product page. DR reviews are sent out via request at times but most often at random times when they become available. They do not count towards your monthly review or your sponsored product review, however you must submit your review in not less than two weeks.

Heartthrob gave you great information, and if you have any other questions, here are the DR guidelines.

Well I emailed an "application" so hopefully I will hear back from someone.

Oh, so you get sent it, look at it, play with it, but not actually USE the item so you're not biased with it, correct? Do you get to keep said item and use it after and then contribute a regular review after that or no?

The description review is like the default or first review on the product. So you'll want to be thorough, concise, and accurate.

Otherwise, it's just like a regular review but with a LOT more "meat on the bones".

Just for clarity, description reviewers definitely use the product for its intended purpose before writing about it.

You *always* use the item, but if you don't like it for personal reasons (too big, too weak, etc) then you write it up from an unbiased factual angle.

For example, instead of saying "This thing has the lamest weakest vibrations I've ever felt. It's useless!" you would say something like; "It has very gentle vibrations that would be ideal for sensitive users." That's a lame example, but you get the idea.

It's best to keep "I" out of it as much as possible and just report your observations in the main sections of the review, keeping in mind who the product might appeal to. Then you can use the Experience section to get into your personal opinions.

I have gotten a number of emails because of this thread bringing up the topic, and that is fine. But just a few things here to consider before you email me:

- Are your review assignments consistently on time? Quite often the product being sold on the website hinges on the Description Review.

- Are you experienced? Have you been involved with the community for a while and done a number of regular assigned reviews?

- How is your writing? Do your review consistently need a lot of editing, revision, or re-writing?

This is what we are looking for.

I emailed about a week or so ago, but have not heard anything back yet. I submitted a support ticket, but I definitely believe I meet the above standards!

But what I don't get is that I have already received 2 products unannounced to write on, I don't get what that was about. Was like an initiation or something? lol...

I emailed Gary about the same time this thread came out, and have the same experience. I've currently got two toys on the way, though I haven't heard anything back.

I suspect it's that Gary doesn't have time to reply to all emails, and just went ahead and put us in the list? Dunno. Let's see his input here.

Goth, you want to use the item. You just want to write the review to describe what the item is and not how it worked for you.

He did add me, I sent a support ticket and he responded that I was added. I have an assignment on the way now and he said the list is on a rotation so it probably takes a while to make it through everyone
