Becoming an editor?

Eliza Eliza
How many reviews do you have to publish before you can become an editor? I have a high enough contributor rank, but when I applied a while ago I was rejected.

I'd really love to help the community by editing reviews, but I don't write that many/use that many different products. I'm an English major and I think this would be a fun way to participate, but I don't want to apply and be rejected again...

There is nothing to lose by reapplying again. From my understanding, they are doing rotating 3 month shifts for editors so others have the chance. If you were not accepted for that round, just reapply. That is actually what they encourage you to do. Not everyone will be chosen as an editor as I am sure there are more people applying then spots that need to be filled. Good luck!

I have yet to be approved! Like sktb0007 said they are doing 3month rotations. So everyone can be approved at one point in time.

I say, just be happy you got a reply! I applied well over 5 weeks ago and still have a "pending" status. As long as you meet the requirements listed, I suggest reapplying, but would probably send in a ticket to find out if there was anything specific to your application that got it declined so quickly. They are pretty fast at replying when you open a ticket (though maybe not so fast since it's a Sunday).

I'm still pending from August 28th.

My understanding is that all qualifying applicants are being held until the next rotation. "Pending" is a good thing and you will be accepted if/when you are selected for the next rotation. You should email Sammi with any questions about the program rather than submit a ticket.

Kindred, you beat me

If it says waiting to be approved, or pending, then you're on file. Previous editors are also on file, although reapplying just lets us know that they're interested in doing it again. As long as you have an application in, you'll be considered at a future date when the next rotations occur.

Since we're doing rotations, the applications won't be accepted or denied within 72 hours as the message currently says, and we're working on getting the wording changed.

If you have additional questions about the program, you can always either send them to me onsite as a message or
to sammi @ edenfantasys . com .

Okay, awesome! I just felt like I would be annoying if I kept reapplying, but I definitely will since I'd love to be an editor!

Thanks for all the advice, everyone!

I finally got picked up and I still can't get my hands on a review to edit. I guess I go to bed too early, well before all the reviews show up and get nabbed. Oh well!

Is that usually a problem? What time do reviews go up? I didn't realize it was a time-sensitive issue.

Reviews are submitted randomly throughout the day. You just have to keep checking the task market to see if there's anything in there. Sometimes you get lucky and there is and sometimes there isn't. There are a ton of factors involved, so it's not always easy to pin down.

Well since I've been an editor for what, 2 months now, I still have not found one review to edit in the task market. So much for things calming down and there being more available. I'd like to help out, but it seems there are plenty already doing the job. Apparently I just have bad timing!
