Anyone NOT writing reviews during Review Amnesty Week

I think that the Review Amnesty Week is a cool idea. Besides giving those with overdue assignments a bit of an extension, it gives the rest of us an incentive to clear out our assignment carts. Personally, I have so many purchases in there that would put me up to and over the milestone 100 reviews. While the double points is nice (as it always is), I have a feeling that I probably won't be writing any reviews this week (or very few) for a few reasons.

I've been offered my first two DR assignments and I also have a manufacturer sponsored one as well (though I haven't actually received the items yet, so there's no rush to write the reviews). As for the points - well, to be honest, being an editor this rotation quickly racks the points up, so I'm not hurting in that area.

But I think my biggest reason for not really wanting to write reviews this week is this - like the double points week back in February, there was such an avalanche of new reviews that it was hard to keep up with them, let alone read many of them. Personally, I like it when people actually read my reviews, and I hope they find them helpful. Rating and commenting is nice (but not entirely necessary), and I'd rather not write a review than have it get lost (and go unnoticed) in the masses of newly written reviews (and therefore not be really helpful to anyone).

I will if I have extra time, but it isn't looking like I'll get any damn peace in my house this week. I will just get them published when I get the time, no rush. It's not like you gain THAT much from doing it. If I did the reviews for points alone, there's no way I'd write and include as much as I do. It's just like 50 points and I guess 100 if it's double points? I don't know. PLus, I have a student who's getting extremely harsh with me about publishing a hundred dang reviews each minute for her double points. She's already advanced so it's not like I'm even getting whatever points you get for students. Still, I feel extremely overwhelmed this week by that and the so little peace in my house. I don't know that I can even keep up with this student's 6-10 reviews everyday through this double point thing and she is getting angry when I don't publish right away so I don't see me getting any time for my own reviews this week. However, my assignment will be coming up at the end of this week and I don't care how badly someone else is desperate to publish, my assignment won't be put off just because of that. I usually do really good, but I get irritated when I'm being pushed every hour. less

well that's really silly of them! I remember when I was student I would get the points as soon as I pressed the 'submit to mentor' button so they shouldn't really bother you about it. They are still going to get their double points. They need to understand that you have other students and a life too! This is why I'm wary of ever being a mentor. Maybe someday...If they are publishing that much they should be ready on their own. Hope it works out! less

You have a good point. There are going to be tons of reviews this week...too many to see them all, unless you stay tied to the computer 24/7, which few of us do. My reviews generally take me about 4 hours to do, so I am not planning to tire myself out trying to do massive amounts of reviews. If I get some in, good. If I don't, that is fine too.

I will say that as far as the proofreading program goes, I had my three reviews for the day finished by 10:00 this morning (and I woke up around 8:30). At this moment, there are 11 reviews waiting in the task market to be edited. I am hoping several someones get in there to take care of the backlog. More will be coming in tomorrow! less

I wrote one in a mentor class recently and it got published yesterday. Not one rating or comment on the one. Definitely disappointed.

Was thinking of writing some reviews this week, but after that happened, perhaps I'll wait when there aren't as many reviews. less
