Description reviewers for expensive, big dildos: please try to include anal use

Contributor: ScottA ScottA
A note to the description reviewers who get the expensive toys, especially the big ones.

Please try to find some way to include how it works anally. I know they're large and scary, but there are people on EF/shopping at EF who are or might be interested in using one anally. On the big dildos, such as the VixSkin Maverick, they're usually expensive, so EF only sends one out for review. Looking at the review it's hard for me to figure out how well it would work and whether or not it's worth trying to come up with the money to buy. At the least please try to hypothesize how it would work anally if you can't find someone to try it out. I'm trying to decide if I want to spring for the Maverick, but there's nothing in the review covering anal use, and I'm trying to decide if the negatives would be applicable. Please make it easier on us!

Thank you.

I think for those of us who have never used a large toy anally it would be hard to hypothesize how it would work other than saying that it has a flared base and would be safe. I for one have never inserted any kind of dildo anally and have only use a small probe and small butt plugs. I have never written a descriptive review for an item such as you're talking about, but I can definitely say that if I did I'd have absolutely no way to state how well it'd work anally and I don't think that it should be a requirement for descriptive reviews either unless the toy is absolutely anal specific. If they use it anally of course that's awesome to add into the review, but if it's not something they're comfortable with I don't see why they should have to find someone to try it out on. How would someone even do that if they're single or in a monogamous relationship and neither person feels comfortable with it? I understand the frustration of not knowing if something expensive will work for you, though.

Perhaps it would be time to try out the 30% buyout on these type toys? I have to agree with Alicia on this one...I am a descriptive reviewer but I don't use many toys anally unless they are meant to be used for anal play (specifically designed for this) so I could only give some dry numbers about how it is angled so far and MIGHT hit a p spot or some such.

As the reviewer for the Maverick, dude, I'm really sorry. I have to agree with Alicia that I can't really even confidently hypothesize (at least in my own opinion I'm not very confident about it, since I didn't try it) how it would work all that well anally. I couldn't even thrust the toy vaginally, so there was no way I was going to risk my safety to try it out anally, and had I realized just how big it was before I accepted the assignment, I would have passed on it

However I do think that it has enough stiffness to be able to give some of the g/p-spot stimulation that you were asking about, however due to the soft and squishy layer of 'skin' that covers the entire surface it might not be enough pressure for everybody. I hope that helps at least a little bit, and if a video would be more useful still, I'll ask Carrie Ann if it's ok to add one to it.

All my toys go in all three orifices (at least those that safely can)! I actually prefer the bigger ones.

I'm not sure if I'm a descriptive reviewer or not (how can I not know - yet I don't), but I don't think its reasonable to ask people who don't normally use large toys anally to do so. I tore horribly during my last anal sex adventure and am under doctors orders to never do so again.

The best non-anal reviewers can do is describe in great detail what its like - squishiness, size, comparison with other toys, etc.

I do try to do this and more interesting ways with most products I review. I'll keep you in mind!

I guess there really isn't any way to deal with it for many reviewers if neither the reviewer nor the reviewer's partner can take it anally. It would be extremely awkward to go around to my friends and say "could you please shove this up your butt and get back to me on how it feels and works?", and I would imagine that would be the case for well over 99% of the reviewers here as well.

It's unfortunate, though - I've seen several products that interest me, and the reviews have been maxed out by reviewers using the product vaginally. Yeah, I can get it for 30% off if I do a review, but that's still a pretty big chunk of change. I guess in retrospect I'm not sure what would be the best way to solve this, since most people do seem to approach their partners about using the toy anally if they aren't comfortable trying it.

I'm starting to wonder if I do the same type of thing in a different way now.
