Intimidated by review process

Contributor: kittycatgirl kittycatgirl
Did anyone feel intimidated by the review process when they first joined? I have not yet written a review, but I started one, and after typing it I realized there were a bunch of other sections to fill out, and I had put all of the information under the first section. I was annoyed, so I just saved it to work on later.
I signed up for a class but for some reason couldn't seem to communicate with my mentor, so now I am trying for another class. I'm just hoping its a little bit of a rough start that will be going much smoother soon!

The mentor program will really help you with that : ) Don't worry, it only seems intimidating at first. Your mentor should be able to transition you from intimidated to super confident really quickly : )

Being that I was one of the first, there was barely any competition or others to compare to. I don't remember being intimidated, just excited!

Yup. It was a little intimidating at first as there was just so many details you had to be aware of. And when I used a toy, I never really thought about them before. The only thoughts in my head were, Do I like it? Yes! or No! Not really so much on why not.

The reviews enabled me to actually put words to those likes and dislikes, and talk about them.

And as a result, I am much better at choosing toys and explaining why.

Good luck!!! And it is ok to be nervous and a little grr-ish when writing your first few reviews. It's like anything. You are never perfect the first time you try. Just remember to keep trying!!!

Damn. I really do sound like a teacher.

I was a little intimidated when I started, but there were also a lot less reviewers when I started as well. I remember being a bit scared, but I just went for it, and here I am just over two years later!

I think it's normal to feel a little anxious. Your work is going to be seen by a large number of people. That being said, most of us here are all doing the same thing, so there isn't much to be too intimidated by.

I think a mentor would be a great idea, pick someone whose reviews you can relate to and will work with you and good luck.

I look forward to reading your work.

I was a bit intimidated and worried that mine would not be good enough. However, after I worked with a mentor and found my writing style I was a lot more confident and love the writing process. Now you can't stop me from reviewing!! I am hooked! If you want some help, message me I am always happy to help and answer questions. I can't accept any new students until the 27th, but can still be there for you.
