Pictures in Lingerie Reviews

Contributor: pasdechat pasdechat
Let me start by saying that I love it when reviewers include pictures of themselves wearing the lingerie in question--it is so much easier to get a sense of what the garment actually looks like on a given body size/type. I really, really would like to include pictures like this in my own reviews--I've even got the pictures all ready to go and everyting--but I am super paranoid about anyone in my "real life" finding out about them--mainly because I am looking to (possibly) go into a career where I think pictures like that would not be looked kindly on, assuming anyone knew about them. I'd obviously crop my face out of them, but I just can't quite get over my concerns.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? If you had similar concerns did you get over them, and if so, how?

Hello, another thing that may be something to think of is crop out the back ground as much as posible. Also, make sure there is nothing at all identifying the the back ground or on your body. On issue I did not think of with some of my earlier photos was my necklace. My husband brought up that someone may know it is me due to it. Also tatoos. I have started to try and cover mine.

congrats on steping out this way.

good luck. lori

I know exactly how you feel. I am in a rather conservative profession in a conservative part of the country, so I am very careful about concealing my "true identity." For pictures, I do make very certain not to include my face, as I figure it is more likely for my face to be recognized than my body. I also make sure that any pictures I take are in a very unrecognizable part of my house...no pictures, no furniture, nothing that could be associated with me personally. Beyond that, I am just taking my chances.

I will say that if you cannot make yourself comfortable with the idea, if you feel it is too risky, then don't do it. Once something is on the internet, it is out there forever.

My wife and I feel the same way. I would love to post pictures to make my reviews that much more helpful, but I just don't think we can be ok with that risk. Does anyone think a lingerie review can still be good without pictures?

Actually, starting tonight I am no longer showing my face in video reviews. I made myself a deal that two years before I apply for Medical School I was going to stop showing my face on here... And I'm applying summer two years from now. I think that as long as you don't show your face you should be fine, and if a friend sees you on here you know that they're interested in this type of thing, too, and they have no place to judge you!

A lingerie review can be good without pictures, but you had better be extremely thorough!

Thanks so much for the advice, everyone (and for the hugs, Ms. N--you've been so welcoming!). It's definitely something I'll have to think more about, although I do feel a bit more comfortable with the idea than I did before--I know, logically, that there's nothing that could identify me in a picture of just my torso/upper legs, but I'm just a worrier

It's especially frustrating to me because everyone I know in my personal life--friends, family, etc--is very open and non-judgmental, and since I'm still in school, I haven't quite gotten used to the idea of censoring myself for potential employers...

Aww, you're welcome!

I think we all understand where you are coming from. It is a shame that we feel we have to censor ourselves, but that is a trade off we have to make sometimes.

Tack a sheet behind you on the wall and do not wear any jewelery. Crop your face and torso out and do not show any unique scars, birthmarks or tattoos. That is what I usually do if not using a wall of our room that no one is allowed into.

My best advice is - if you don't feel comfortable posting them, don't post them! I've never posted a picture of myself in lingerie (it's not something I'm comfortable with, and my man isn't either), and all my lingerie reviews are voted "EU". Be thorough, describe it well, take tons of measurements & include your own measurements, include other pictures of the pieces, even dress a pillow in it if you want. You can work around that.

My account is not anonymous to friends or I would, so I guess I have the same concern. How super secret is your account?

Another thing that would work is if you are good at Photoshop, you can crop your face out and then you can totally cut the background out and put your faceless pic on a completely white background

Thanks again to everyone who offered advice. My issue is more psychological than anything else, I think, since very few people in my real life know about my account, and I don't have any tattoos/scars/piercing s that would show up in most pictures.

crop the pictures so your face is not visible.

Crop to cover the face. Hang a sheet on the wall, clone brush identifying marks out, and remove any unique jewelry.

I keep a scarlet red microsuede curtain hung on my wall for when I occasionally need to take pictures of anything, and it works great. I use 2 thumbtacks to hold it up, and if I need it down it's no big deal!
