The Mentor and also the Eden Task program, some are slipping through the cracks.

I love the mentor/student program and the Eden Task program as well but I have to say something to the mentors and editors, I've come across a few reviews that are like 3 sentences long with no real detail on the product and they are somehow published? I'm relatively new to all this but I like taking my time to write detailed reviews which is why I joined the student program but I think it should almost be a requirement for reviewers to go through the mentor/student program so they can get tips on how to write better reviews, that's just my opinions but I'd like to hear what the community has to say.

Sometimes a student starts from the very beginning. You can't demand perfection from a student, especially in the beginning.

So, while I'll make suggestions, I cannot control what a student does. And it's also about their personal improvement as opposed to what is considered "good" improvement. If my student went from 2 sentences to 3, it's an improvement.

As a mentor, I don't want to take over a student's review with my own tone so I make suggestions, but you can only do so much. Some don't feel things need changing. Some people just don't get what you're saying. =/

I've had students who just didn't do well with me, but flourished with another mentor. Seriously, I wondered if English was their first language. It really depends on the chemistry between the two people and also, if both are putting in the same amount of work.

Also some of the reviews you're seeing may not be mentored reviews. It'll still say "edited by" and a contributor, but that person has NO say in the content. They can only fix spelling and grammar.

I had the best mentor evah, and she would go back and forth until I had answered all the who, what, when, where and what size of a toy and absolutely NOT publish until I had a really great review, and she'd explain why it was needed.... I've never mentored and I'm sure that you can get your share of folks who just want a freebie and don't want to put forth the effort, but at the same time... you and your mentor are a reflection of what gets pubished.

yes, that's very true, I guess everyone is different, It came kind of natural and easy for me, but id be lying if I said I haven't improved with time and with my mentors help, but everyone is different, but since the mentors are technically the only ones that can decide once a review is good enough to publish I feel that after 3 or so reviews, the student program should be a must just to see if you can improve your detail and writing skill, you don't loose anything by trying.

The mentor program is a resource and since we believe in free will at Edenfantasys, we will never make it mandatory.

However, if you see that someone else's eyes have hit a review in the form of being an editor OR a mentor for this person and there are lots of errors or misinformation, please do rate them accordingly and then send the review our way so we can look into it. By "our way", I mean either to JR, Sammi, or myself.

Ok thanks for the feedback, also while I have you here, how long does a mentor have to review and make decisions on their students? Are they on a time frame or is it pretty much whenever they please?

There's no set response time. I mean life happens, you know? A lot of our mentors are college students who find themselves suddenly busier than expected, others have things going on in life that prevent them from checking in every day.

There have been times where it took me two weeks to get back to a student. They are supposed to get in touch with you when you've submitted two reviews to see if you feel like you're ready to graduate and then it's a mutual decision. If you ask to be graduated and your reviews have received useful or extremely useful votes, then they shouldn't turn you down.
