I think mentors for adv. students still get 500 pts. I haven't done it yet, that's just right off the top of my head.

I think you're right. I was thinking about the $25 GC.

I second this post.

Not everyone can be editors, but it takes a lot of work to be chosen for one. I think there are plenty of people who would make great editors, but it takes a while. I submitted 3 requests over a 3 month period before I got accepted into the program. I don't think rank is a factor, but I do think reviews and , dare I say it, seniority may have something to do with it.

Anyways, I do find it odd that mentors don't get points for editing reviews, however mentors can edit reviews several times and the students are the ones who really need to be doing the editing. When the mentor program first started the mentors couldn't actually edit the reviews, we had to make suggestions to the students. It is a lot easier now being able to actually edit the reviews.

I also agree that editing is a job and if you think about it, @ 400 points max, the most an editor can get is 12$. That's only if they get 3 reviews worth 400pts each.

So, editors work for eden and get 12$ a day max for editing reviews. It's a very generous amount in points, but it's not much more than what everybody else is capable of getting.

Sorry for any typos, I'm on a strange computer... lol

Editors can only edit 3 reviews a day.

I don't think that the editors shouldn't be compensated. I think their compensation is quite fair. I just think that in comparison to mentoring, it's a little unbalanced since mentors don't get compensated by the student, not by the review. It's a LOT of work to mentor and if you have brand-spanking new reviewers who haven't gone up for community upgrade, the $5 in gift cards is a little unbalanced for all the work you put in. The reviews we receive are often just as bad as the ones the editors have, plus we're offering our feedback, advice, and helping them become better reviewers; which also makes the editors' jobs easier.

I don't want it to sound as if I am point/gc hungry. I'm not. I take very few students anymore, and have cut down a lot on my reviewing/videos/EC articles, etc. Some of that is circumstantial, but mostly it's choice. It's just the way I see it. I may have a skewed POV though. My brain isn't exactly functioning the way I'd like lately.

We are compensated 500 points for graduating or failing a class.

I absolutely agree. I love it when someone tells me that I misspelled a word or made a grammatical error that I can go back and correct. I often don't catch too many of my own mistakes until I have published it. It's as if seeing it in the different format gives me a different look at it.

CORRECTION: mentors GET compensated by the student, not the review.

I think you meant to say $25, not $5.

No, I meant for the Advanced Reviewers; which accounts for many of the students that a lot of the mentors have.

Call me crazy, but I shudder at auto-publishing. I *LIKE* knowing someone else will take a look at my review and hopefully catch any errors I missed.

By the way, I want to make it clear my mentor has been an absolute doll. She is extremely helpful and encouraging, and has never said a thing about the points (or lack thereof) for mentoring an advanced student. It is simply my opinion that everyone would benefit in the long run if EF did more to encourage mentoring. As the points system functions now, it's easier, quicker and more lucrative to do things like set lures and start Twix vs Snickers polls.

I'm sure you can always get someone to look over your reviews. I know some mentors continue to do this with past students. But you also shouldn't be so fixated on a "perfect" review. Everyone makes an occasional mistake. It's okay as long as it's readable. That should be the goal.

And personally I'm fine with the current compensation. Would I complain if EF increased it? Of course not. But it also helps to ensure that only people who really want to help and have the time participate do so. Mentors get rewarded in other ways.

I know what you mean about the auto-publishing. I mean, I don't mind too much that I autopublish, but I feel like just about everyone could use some editing sometimes, including myself. A rank above 5.5 doesn't necessarily mean someone knows about grammar and spelling and whatnot.

Agreed. I've seen people with higher ranks than myself with some pretty poor reviews/grammar.

EDIT: Not "poor." Just not great.

I posted here because I did not want to go off tangent on the new thread discussing changes to the editor program. In regards to spam reviews (when ether are 6+ from the same reviewer), editors will know what I'm talking about, I simply copy/paste the entire line including task #, review title, and reviewer name and email it to JR. the spam reviews have typically been removed very quickly. I should note that I do select a sampled to confirm that they are indeed spam reviews. Perhaps JR can comment if this is how we should continue to notify EF about these spam reviews.

If you see more than 3 or 4 reviews from the same contributor sequentially or really close together, and you don't know them, that's a red flag.

With the point program changing in the near future, this may be a lot less common. I can't say anything about it passed: it'd make multiple accounts kinda pointless.

Anyway, if you see something fishy, always send me an email at almon (at) edenfantasys dot com

I hate to dredge up this old thread again, but I have a quick question, the answer to which I can't seem to find anywhere else but am probably just missing. At what level does a contributor have to be in order to not have their reviews proofread anymore? I just submitted a review and it was instantly published, but I believe I am only at Level 5.5 , and I thought it was supposed to be edited until you are a Level 6 or higher. Am I mistaken?

EDIT: Never mind. I just found it. Sorry for bringing up an old thread, everyone.

Hey, admins, I grabbed task #8441 and locked it to me, but when I click on "Proofread" it redirects me to my review page. Why?

That is typically because the review was submitted and then the reviewer subsequently was voted in as Advanced. It becomes available once that person logs back in to the site and their review status updates.

There were 4 reviews at the top of the task market from the same reviewer that this applies to.

I had the same problem with that task BBW. I asked Sammi about it and she's working on it. I sent my message to her around nine o' clock or so this morning. It's just glitchy for some reason.
