Video reviews, and other features, fixes

Gary Gary
Hello everybody!

There are some really cool changes that just went into effect.

- The most interesting of these is the new addition of Video Reviews. Now when you choose to write your review, you will be able to choose: the "Standard" template, the "Extended" template, or the "Video Review" template. The video template is pretty self explanatory. To embed your video, you will need to use the full "embedding" html code directly in the field "Review Text or Video HTML Code". You can also place several videos in that field, if you like. (Only tags Embed, Object, and Param are permitted).

- P.O. Box shipping is now available with FedEx SmartPost.

- Bondage & Fetish items now have filter options: link

- A "Forum" link was added to the contributor account menu.

- The issue with the 30-day limit validation that was preventing the assignment requests has been fixed.

But wait, there's more!

Now you are be able to requests Buyout, Free Sponsored, & Description Review Assignments at the same time. As long you don't owe a review for that same assignment type. (Basically this allows you to have one of each at the same time.)

- If you don't owe a review for previous free Sponsored Assignment, you can request a free Sponsored Assignment.

- If you don't owe a review for previous Buyout Assignment, you can place order with Buyout Assignment promotion.

- If you don't owe a review for a previous Description Review Assignment, you can request new Description Review Assignment.

I hope this makes sense to everyone. I can't wait to see all the videos that you guys will soon be posting

I must have missed something HUGE somewhere along the line. How do we request description review assignments? I thought those were assigned to us without any sort of choice on our part. Are description reviews now what Eden sponsored reviews formerly were?

Apologies for the remedial lessons. Somebody needs to spank me.

I wanted to know how the assignment cart would be working. Is that only for Buyout assignments, or what? How can we add Sponsored Assignments to our Cart and do it that way to waste less boxes?

Description reviews can be requested. But generally, like someone said a while ago, Gary will give out most of them. If you're able to in the Product Search, you can click on the circle, press "GO" and it will take you to the items that are available (usually).

Yes, you now have to ability to request Description Review assignments.

Go to the product search in your contributor account, select the button that says "Products for Description Review", and then hit GO. You will then see a listing of products that have not yet been assigned, that require a Description review.

(Only Description Reviewers will be able to request a Description Review assignment.)

All your assignments (Free or Buyout) should be processed through the checkout now.

Previously you had to accept the assignment and administrator had to ship it later, now you can place FREE order(in case of free assignment) and it goes to warehouse immediately (skipping the administrator).

The buyout assignment will be created automatically after the order is placed, in case if you have the items with buyout assignment promotion.

You can combine your buyout with free assignments and with other items you might purchase.

Do we do anything different for this free order? Or does it just skip the middle step now?

I understand everything except, how do sponsered items fit into this? Do they no longer exist?

When admin approves it instead of saying "accept assignment" in your assignment list, it says "free assign". You click that and it takes you to the cart. If you have more than one, you just go back to your account and click for the next one. They all go in the cart and you check out, choosing fed ex smart post for free shipping and the order is free. You can also add buy outs or regular purchases, etc and everything goes in the same order, same box.

It's pretty nifty.

Silly me! I didn't notice that. So basically free and sponsored's fall into the same category now.

Well, there are free EF sponsored assignments, which are our normal, monthly ones. And free Manufacturer sponsored assignments, which are extra. Both are sponsored, though.

Both ship/check out the same way.

However, it seems as though you can't request a product sponsored by anyone other than EF if you have your EF product unreviewed for the month. You can request both at the same time, but not once an EF assignment is shipped and not yet completed. (per link) Unless I'm getting it wrong.

It seems like, basically, you need to complete your monthly freebie before you ask for anything non ef sponsored once that monthly ef freebie has been shipped out.

Apparently. Which products fall under the one per month now though? Those sponsored by Edenfantasys?
10/13/2009
Carrie Ann Carrie Ann
So, basically, once you finish your monthly EF sponsored freebie, you can THEN request products sponsored by other folks. But if you have an EF sponsored freebie out then you can't request until it's done.

If you're lucky enough to have an empty assignment list, you can request both at once.

I'd love to hear more about the Video Review option. I like that we can have multiple videos if we want. Are reviewers responsible for hosting their own videos?

This might be obvious but I don't have an assignment due at the moment...do we still write all the same stuff we would for a regular review if we're doing a Video Review? Or is the video the main event?

Unless you're part of the video review program (post on that coming tomorrow) you'd have to host your own at youtube or some such site.

No matter what sort of video review you do, be it part of the program or not, you'd write the normal text. Video is in addition to the review rather than in place of it.

EdenFantasys does not provide hosting for videos at this moment, you have to upload your video to youtube.com or similar platform.

In order to add video the review you need to select "Video" template option and enter the "embed code" (from youtube.com) directly into the "Review text and Video HTML Code" field.

For video review - your review text is optional: main part is video itself, although you can add review text if you wish.

And yes, you can add several videos by adding all "embed codes" of all your videos.

I'm REALLY glad we can embed the video reviews now; it seems like a much better way for them to be seen.
