How Many to 6.0?

Kisses and Kinks (aka Twisted Finger) Kisses and Kinks (aka Twisted Finger)
For those of you in the 6.0 and above club, how many reviews did it take you to rank that high? Just curious. I'm at a 5.6 and I feel like it's never going to get any higher (then again, I haven't been as active recently). I'm wondering what the range will be from y'all.

Thanks peeps

Actually, that's completely irrelevant. Just because someone's amount of reviews is currently whatever it is does not mean that they reached that ranking at that level of reviews.

That being said, I do not remember, honestly.

Different things are factored into your rank, so it is not a certain amount of reviews that you must write. Also the votes you get on your reviews count. Here is some info on the way the ranking system works Rank

I'm aware of how the system works, I was more or less trying to "collect data." I apply stats to everything and I was going to make a mental histogram based off the answers of others.

I think the problem is that since many different activities contribute to rank, you will get a wide range. Writing reviews accounts for only 28% of the whole equation. Also, everyone has a different activity level in how they participate in the community.

Having said that, I think I hit 6.0 around my 18th review. After 6.0, it has taken multiple reviews to advance each 0.1.

Fair enough. I feel like my reviews do affect my ranking pretty heavily. There have been times when I've been semi-inactive because of family and school and such, but when I become active again, I always get really active because I just love this site so much and I want to see EF do well (and improve where it needs to). I felt that for awhile, I had almost reached the cap based off of the "social networking" aspect of EF, although, ironically, I noticed that my rank moved up by 0.1 today. I wondering if it's from being super active again or if people have started voting on more of my reviews.

Oh, and thank you for your answer Kindred. I realize what I'm doing is a tad arbitrary, but I'm a number-crunching stats nerd all the way.

I've noticed times where my rank will also change 0.1 seemingly randomly. However, remember that the rank is based on the last 12 months and is relative to all other reviewers. Thus, although your activity level may not have changed, someone elses activity may have decreased resulting in your rank going up during the same 12 month period.

*Facepalm*

Ah, that's something I hadn't considered. I guess I never thought about that aspect because my ranking usually only increases around the times when I'm posting a lot of reviews. It appears you helped me find just one of my blind variables. Thanks!

It is really variable. Sometimes my rank changes very fast. Other times, it seems like I'm stuck on one number for ages. I remember remaining at 5.9 what seemed like forever, I did reviews, got good votes and it stayed, used the forum etc. Then once, I got to 6, it went fairly fast. Now, I'm at 6.9, I've done 3 or 4 reviews since then (my last one for the Mark O2 has at least 20 to 25 EU votes) and I can't seem to move to the next level. I NEVER used to think about rank, until I got higher up.

I honestly don't remember how many reviews I didn't when I got to 6.0.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'm just getting a little antsy. I feel like I used to get a lot more votes on my reviews. :/ I'm probs not too far away, but it feels like it's been taking forever. Lol

I would be neat if Eden had some sort of internal ranking review that would compare your stats to others and give "advice" based on how you compare. For example, though you may have excellent reviews with many votes, if you're not very active in the forum, the Eden bot might suggest helping out in the forums. Fun thought.

I had over 40 reviews before I hit 6.0. But they were spread out over quite a bit of time. A lot of people who are more active than me have been able to reach 6.0 with only half as many reviews.

That's a pretty cool idea. I like the sound of an EF bot. Lol

Actually, it's not irrelevant - the problem is with the question. By looking at the link, it's possible to see how many reviews people have written BUT (and it's a big BUT), it's also possible to see that there is a very wide range between of the numbers of reviews that people write and their actual rank - some people have written a LOT of reviews while other people, with the same rank, have written significantly fewer. That is because EF must use a formula to calculate rank that includes a lot more than just number of reviews written. It's obvious, however, that people with very high ranks have also written a lot of reviews. For example, the least number of reviews written by any one with a rank of 7.0 or higher is 45. Most people with a rank of 7 have written a LOT more reviews that 45 - they must also have big smiles on their faces from reviewing all of those great toys

The problem is that the number listed is total reviews written. The calculation of rank is partially based on reviews written in the past 12 months. Many of the top ranked reviewers have been here for well over a year. Therefore, their total number of reviews is a misleading statistic.

Yeah, I'm getting a bit frustrated trying to get there, but I know I'm close! Since I posted this thread, my ranking has gone up 0.2. Only 0.2 to go!

Quick question, sort of related. How does the 12 month period thing work, exactly? Do reviews that are over a year old stop affecting your rank, even if people continue to rate them? Or does it include new ratings on old reviews as well?

I think I hit 6.0 around 35 views or so. But my first two reviews suck so I started off low when I did first get my rank.
