What about re edits?

Contributor: ♥ Amanda ♥ ♥ Amanda ♥
I was curious about something. A review can be edited, but a fellow ef contributor can only vote on the review's rating one time. I think it would be nice if a review was edited, it could be tossed back up in the community page and then reevaluated. A review that was once not useful, can become very useful if re edited. Just an idea. I think there should be a way to change your vote on a review. Not give more than one vote. But be able to re evaluate reviews and change its rating. Does this make sense?

Makes perfect sense, and I like the idea and I believe that I have suggested something similar.

However, the best thing to do is not rate the review at all and wait until the person edits it to make a final decision. If no edits are made within a week and a half, then rate it whatever the person decides to rate it.

That's the best thing to do now. But I love the idea, thank you for suggesting this!

It does indeed sound like a fantastic idea, but I think actually working it out might be tricky.

I'm with Sir and waiting a week or so for the contributor to edit their review and go from there, at least until this idea becomes something more than an idea

That's a really cool idea! I've seen some reviews that were rated low because the first version wasn't spectacular, but the reviewers work hard to fix it! That sort of enthusiasm to improve is really good to see, so it would have been nice in those cases for there to be an option to change your vote. I'm not sure how complicated the programming to change the rating system would be, though.

For the most part, I do what Sir described. If it's someone who's relatively new and who deserves the benefit of the doubt, I'll make a note of it and wait a few days to see if the reviewer decides to edit the review.

I do that too, wait. I didn't always do it, but then realized that it's much more fair to the reviewer (unless the review would have to be completely re-written).

Patience is a virtue.

I think there is something to this idea. I have some older reviews which are not awesome but already have low ratings so why would I edit them now kinda thing?

I think it is an interesting idea. Perhaps, for reviews that get negative votes like not useful at all or worth reading but not useful this could be implemented. What I have noticed is new reviewers coming on board and receiving low votes because they really don't know exactly what needs to go into a review. It might be a good idea to give reviewers with five or less reviews the option to go back and edit their review one or two times only and receive new votes on it.
