I applied for the Editor Program on June 16 and am still patiently awaiting approval. I was told there are too many editors right now or at least as many as they need.
Any idea when I can start editing? My OCD grammar and punctuation skills are dying to be redeemed.

I'm sure that as soon as they are in need, there'll be a massive forum discussion about it.

I can tell you, as an editor, that there is never really a backlog in the queue. There's usually, at any given time, one or two waiting, but that's about it. I'd assume that until we start seeing a consistent backlog, they'll keep the editors as they are and not expand the program, but hopefully someone can come in and clear that up for you.

Ahh, see, that's the question I was about to ask as well!

It said 72 hours or so for approval but it's been since July 10 for me, haha. I was starting to get worried!

I didn't realize there was an overabundance of editors.

I've been keeping my eyes on the task market too (that's where editors get the reviews to edit), not much on there.

Another thing to consider too, is that more and more people could be getting to the rank where their reviews auto-publish too.

I'm also eagerly waiting to contribute to the editor program! As I am not currently an editor, I obviously cannot see the task market. But the past few reviews that I've submitted have taken significantly longer to be published than the first few that I did. It's not taking forever, but it seems that the program could use a few more sets of eyes. (Again, this is just from my point of view, and I understand that things look different on the other side).

I read something about this program a while back before I really got involved on the site and it looked interesting. Maybe when I'm finally ready to get into it, it will come back.
