Suprise Me Tab

I'm confused about the Suprise Me tab. Would someone please explain just what happens if I click on it?

I don't even think it's functional anymore.

I think EF is in the process of changing how to request Surprise Me items. But, I don't think it is in place yet. It least I've not seen any recent updates on it. Hopefully, after In The Pink gets back from her big party ) we will hear more about it!!

I mentioned a few months ago on the forums that we are not using the Surprise Me tab sign ups anymore. We used them for a while months ago, then started doing Surprise Me threads...and now we're doing it through the regular assignment system.

You simply look for Sponsored products for review by going through the list in your account - under Product Search. If it has $0.00 as a price, that's a sure sign it's a new sponsored product. They will be mixed in throughout the list, so sort by "Review Presence: Without Reviews". It's still first come, first serve. If you get a request declined, it's because someone beat you to it.

Ok, gotta fly (literally) so be sure to ask Gary via email (gary@webmerchantsinc. com) if you have any more questions!

Do all brand new items pop up like that, or are there other ways that Eden doles out new products for review? I keep seeing brand new products that have reviews and it seems there are a lot more of those than there are surprise-me assignments.

Oh, I seem to have missed this change, as well! This is a much easier and immediate system, I think. Thanks for all the cool changes I've been feeling after my few weeks away!

All products are subject to a 'description review' before anything is available for sale, that is why a new product will always have a review.

So does this mean that Surprise Me reviews now count toward the month between regular assigned reviews?

If a product only has a descriptive review, that means it's still up for someone to do an assigned review, doesn't it?

Ah, I had noticed the 0.00 items in regular searches and was wondering what was up with that!

I just played around a little bit, and i definitely can't request a 0.00 product given that I have a regular review product on the go. Which isn't too surprising!

I was going to ask the same thing. I tried to request one, but it told me I wasn't eligable for another free assignment yet, but maybe the decline was also because someone else requested it first?

Hmmm, that makes it seem like the 30-day limit is enforced on these as well.

While trying not to come off as a complete pain in the ass, I've got to muse: Are the Surprise Me assignments really surprises anymore? Perhaps there is some surprise in seeing a new product pop up in your search, or a different sort of surprise in being "beaten to the punch" so to speak, if someone requests a toy before you.

Under my surprise me tab, it still says in process. I didn't really know what it was all about, and I requested it to find out a while ago. *shrug*

Hey Everyone! The surprise me tab is no longer part of the *NEW* process.

Victoria posted this on the last 'Surprise Me Assignment' Thread...

"Ok, all you awesomesauce junkies - get ready to detox for a few days.

We're changing the process for Surprise Me / Sponsored reviews. Change is good!

No more forum batches.

So here's the deal - now this process will work much like regular assignment requests. You will look for available sponsored items in your account, through Product Search - just like you can right now. And when you 'Grab it', and try to 'Request assignment', the system will let you know if it is available for review. So, it's a familiar process. And it's more automated - which means faster, easier, and more fluid.

We hope to have many new sponsored products up for grabs in the future - it just takes time to coordinate. As far as the assignments, we are the sponsors of all assignments unless manufacturers send us products - so one way or another, someone is paying to have the product reviewed. Hope that makes the process clear for everyone. Thanks!"

Ah, but they now count towards the "one every 30 days" limits, right?

(if I am reading things right this question is still hanging in the air but it seems like the answer is "yep, they do!")

Hmm, I tried requesting another, and the only red text I got this time was when I last requested a freebie, and when I'd be able to request another. So, unless it's just not cleared with the system yet, my guess (which kind of bites) is that they now count towards the one-a-months. =/

As far as the 30 day rule goes…

All review assignments are now SPONSORED by someone. You may only receive one assignment every 30 days that is SPONSORED by Eden Fantasys. You may also at the same time, receive an assignment that is SPONSORED by someone else (which is what the surprise me assignments used to be).

There are still a few tweaks and adjustments going on, since so many improvements and new features are being added to Eden (as we speak). So please be patient if you still having trouble with requesting sponsored assignments! Hopefully those of you that are having trouble, will be able to request as normal in a few days.

I think I get it...so, right now, the ones up are Sponsored by EF, which is why the 30 days count...and in the future (near, or far, or whatever) there -will be- ones Sponsored by other someones, which the 30 days will -not- apply to?

I think I'm missing something...

So the assignments that are sponsored by EF have a price listed, and the items that are NOT SPONSORED by EF have $Zero as the price?

So if we are still within our 30 day "sponsored by EF" time frame, we SHOULD be able to request a $Zero assignment?

But that isn't yet working, but will be soon?

Maybe I should go back to caffeine?

You know, you could be right, that could be it too...lol I think this is beyond the help of caffeine. =)

I'm with you two, caffeine it is!!!!

If the review price is zero/$0.00, then it is a not sponsored by Eden (formerly surprise me assignment), and you can select it even if you are already doing an Eden Sponsored review (what used to be a regular assignment).

However, if this is still not working for you, it could be a small glitch that is being fixed as we speak and should be active in a few days.

Ohh.. I get it now. What if a product not sponsored for EF is out of stock (As I think most items priced $0.00 are)? I just tried to, and got a red error message saying it was out of stock. How do we request it then?
