Reviews for higher-priced items

Now that we're choosing our own products for review (as opposed to the way it used to be, when the EF staff just picked something out for you), I'm curious about the selection of high priced products. For those of you in the reviewer community who are able to choose expensive stuff, how does that work for the..say, $175-$300 range? Do you have to make a "special" request for these items? Or is EF relying on reviews from customers, that is, people who have actually purchased these items?

There is a forum floating around that addresses everything (30 day wait, pricing guidelines, etc.) But if I recall, you are supposed to have 15 verified reviews in order to request any item over $50.
I'm not sure about something that pricey, but sending a request to the admin (Victoria specifically) would be your best route to find out a definite answer.

I'm 90% positive expensive items require an e-mail to the higher-ups.

I've always emailed the program administrator when I've requested an expensive item. I try to reciprocate by reviewing some high-priced items from my own collection.

Yeah, I haven't been able to bring myself to request anything $50+ yet. It makes me feel really greedy, cheap, and lazy. (Yes, I know, I have a complex.)

I think that it's possible, but rare, and depends on the reviewer and product. Especially at that price range. I recently reviewed something higher than the limit- but it was closer to $110. There was some debate on which product for that review.
