Can I vote that voting be banned?

I didn't know that I would get advanved after I passed the Mentor program, spattering submitted my 2nd review, I asked to be voted up, thinking that it was a requirement to get Advanced...because of that, my mentor was screwed out of her well deserved giftcard. Can we make mentoring the ONLY way to get to advanced? I know that some people don't need the help, but that will be apparent in their first few reviews. I vote NO to voting!

Trust me, a lot of people share a similar sentiment. I also had a student submit an upgrade request a few days ago not knowing that it would do the same thing and they got voted in. I personally think that it should be that students are blocked from submitting a request.

People have suggested your idea before, but nothing has really been done about it yet even though it has been a concern. It's just a tiny frustration with the system. As mentors, though, we appreciate students mostly because of the love of helping out rather than the incentive. It can be a little frustrating, however, when we put a lot of time and effort in and don't get the credit for it, it's a little irritating because not all students actually care about writing decent reviews and try to do what they can to get free things.

Wow, that's pretty awful.
I didn't even know about the mentor program until I already became advanced, which makes me pretty mad, because I think the extra help with my reviews would have really helped me out.

Good to know. Not advanced yet, but would like to be. WIll have to look into the mentor program. Just finished my second review tonight. Wish some more of our toys were listed on here. Would write 2 or 3 more!

I think it'd be helpful too if so many people wouldn't vote without reading the person's reviews. I've seen yours and they are wonderful! But many of those asking for upgrades haven't even done the mentoring program and don't even know much about what's needed in a review, but the thing is, most people will vote without ever reading their reviews! This I think should be changed or should require more than a couple of votes to become advanced.

Anyways if there was a way to make peopel more aware of the mentor program, it'd help too. A lot of us try to spread the word about the mentor program, but some simply just want to be advanced, not improve.

From what I've read, your reviews are good enough to be advanced though!

Nope! We've asked for it, but it simply isn't doable because of all the fluctuating factors. But, what they should do is disable the ability to go up for voting while in a class...

I say vote people to become Advanced members not let them vote themselves. That way, it forces people to be active members.

No, I don't think mentoring should be the only way to become an advanced reviewer. There are a lot of people on Eden that are quite good at writing reviews that don't need to go through the reviewing program.

Instead, I think the mentors need to take it upon themselves to inform their students that voting WILL rip them off of a decent gift card; I feel that would significantly reduce these incidents.

Don't get me wrong, I think the mentor program is a wonderful idea, but I know a lot of our members don't have the time or whatever to fulfill their obligations to Eden.

While that sucks completely, another point to the whole voting thing is that I'm sure nearly everyone gets voted up! Why can't it be a certain number of reviews automatically qualifies you to upgrade?

Because people write fake reviews to do things already.

The review formats basically list all kinds of things to be included in the reviews, so I think almost anyone can give a decent review as long as they follow the outlines. I wouldn't have time or patience to be part of the mentor program in order to become advanced.

I agree with some that students be banned from asking for votes for an upgrade. That makes more sense to me. I personally didn't go through the mentor program. I didn't really look into it until I had already written a few reviews and gotten some practice. I don't want the mentors to be screwed out of their gift cards, but I also don't think that everyone should have to go through the program.
