Which 2 plugs should I get as a beginner to anal toys to best use during sex?

Contributor: Intertwining Intertwining
Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a plug that I can keep in and use easily during sex, as in vaginal penetration + plug at the same time, so if any of my choices have unwieldy bases, please let me know!

I'm relatively new to anal toys, except for a small, jelly plug I bought ages ago and only used a few times because the low-quality material started deteriorating (link).
I do like the gradual, tapering shape though- I'm not sure if I'll enjoy the Bootie/Bob type shape as it starts off at the widest point.. But I've never tried it so I can't be too sure.

If this helps, I have a very, very tight vagina (I'm not trying to boast or anything!) - the Tex, at 1.5" in diameter was very, very uncomfortable and even painful to use, and I much prefer a vaginal dildo of about 1 1/4". I'm not sure if this goes the same way for my butt though.. Hopefully you experienced people can figure it out for me!

I'm planning on getting 2 anal toys-
1. Bob/Bootie/Plug of Lust (small)
2. The Li'l End/Pleasure No. 1

So please choose one option from each section, and if you can, let me know why!

Also, I'm probably asking a very stupid question, but why is it that all the toys I've chosen are 1" in diameter but vary in circumference, from 3" to 3 1/2"? My brain must be malfunctioning because I can't figure it out, please forgive me!

Thank you very much in advance for your advice!

Bob or Bootie would probably be the better choices. The Plug Of Lust is silicone and a decent plug, but it tends to pop out more easily than the other two (the Tantus Ryder is another good choice for a "stay in place and not get in the way" plug). Of the other two I'd choose the Pleasure No 1 - it looks like it's smoother, which often equals more comfortable (at least for beginners).

You might want to just choose one of them and try it out, since they're both similar sizes and functions. Once you've tried it out you will probably have a better idea of where you want to go with buttfun.

Ah, sorry, EF doesn't seem to allow outside links! Anyways, for the plug I own, it's 3" long, 3" in circumference and 1" in diameter.

For some reason, it also completely slipped my mind that I also own a Flexi Felix! I comfortably take all but the last bead, of which REALLY makes me feel like I need to empty my bowels- I'm reasonably sure it's due to the total length of all the beads.

In my opinion, the Bob looks perfect for use during sex, and many people have raved about it. If the Plug of Lust pops out, that's pretty distracting, so I'd skip that one. But my opinions are based on other people's reviews, not my own experience. I have a glass plug, myself.

Also, I forgot to note that I'm not keen on anal thrusting, so toys that jostle easily aren't too great

And the squishier the better!

I voted the Bootie because I want one. But I also recommend you consider the Love Pacifier Advanced because it definitely impressed me (my review isn't up yet). And the advanced one really isn't all that big so don't think you have to start with the beginner size.

I will second the Love Pacifier Advanced, although it is 1 1/2" Diameter, the Silicone is soft and feels smaller. If that is to big the Love Pacifier beginner is at 1 1/4" diameter. You can not really beat the price for a Silicone plug that will stay in and is comfy to wear. My Advanced has a seem but I can not feel it during use. Just so you know.

The Bootie looks like it would provide some nice stimulation through the vaginal wall for your man.

Pleasure number 2 is a better choice than number one. Even an anal beginner would do fine with #2. #1's base is even less pronounced.

I am a newbie to anal play and have purchased several beginner plugs, including the Tantus Small Ripple, Tantus Little Flirt (the small one), FunFactory Bootie, and the LELO Bob.

I heartily and enthusiastically recommend the LELO Bob. It is the best plug for me out of our entire collection. I would say that the FunFactory Bootie comes in second, but it is a bit big for me to work in comfortably unless I spend a LONG time working at it. The Bob is slender enough to comfortably insert with a thick lube and the neck is slender enough to provide a comfortable fit. Plus, its handle is an absolute dream. I can easily forget this plug is in place and it would not get in the way of vaginal intercourse AT ALL.

The base of the FunFactory Bootie is also comfortable (when I can finally get the plug inserted), but the base of it would, I believe, get in the way of vaginal intercourse just a bit. But, of course, each anatomy is different. Just because the base of the Bootie reaches my vaginal opening does not mean it would on every single female body.

Hi everybody, thank you so much for your recommendations and help!

I'm still struggling to decide- currently in my shopping cart I have the:

- Plug of Lust: I can't resist it because it looks adorable!

- Pleasure number 1: But I'm worrying it might slip out easily. Has anyone here tried it?

- Bootie: I worry the base will get in the way during sex, I'm pretty small sized.. But the Bootie has gotten SO many good reviews and raves so I'm wondering if I should just get it to see what the fuss is all about! lol!

- Pure Plug small: The size seems totally fine, but would it be uncomfortable for an almost-beginner since it's totally rigid with no give? It's been raved about so much and looks absolutely beautiful to boot..

I originally wanted 2 toys but now I have 4 in my cart, because I figured it would be good to try out the different shapes of butt plugs to see which I like best- classic cone-shaped taper (Pleasure No. 1), straight plug (Plug of Lust), bulged curved plug (Pure plug) and whatever shape the Bootie is.. Oh EF, why do you always have to empty my bank account? lol!

I'm still indecisive- on one hand, the toy sizes I picked are appropriate for me, knowing that if my vagina can only comfortably take a 1 1/4 dildo, a 1 1/4 anal plug will most probably be too much, so I shouldn't waste my money on toys I won't use.. But on the other hand, WHAT IF I wind up "outgrowing" the toys I picked and want to take a bigger size? Then all of them would go to waste.

Anybody have any advice?

I would say that going off of your vaginal size for anal size may not be the best idea. (it might but I do not have one so I am not 100%) Take a ruler and measure your first two fingers, probably about 1 1/4". Can you take two fingers with out any pain? If so then that will let you know for sure what size to get. Remember plenty of lube and relaxing are the biggest keys.

While I will recommend any of the Njoy line (I love Stainless) I would say that the handle may be to big for intercourse. It is 2" long and hard. But every body is different so it might work for you. On the other hand the Love Pacifier beginner is the same shape and size only made out of Silicone so the handle will not be noticed as much. Also since it is softer it will be easier to insert.

I would recommend the NJoy med and the Tantus Ryder, both are "stay put" plugs and super warm up plugs for something larger.
The Ryder is so easy to use, was my first butt plug and I still use it during PIV sex. The NJoy gives a great sensation, titillates my G spot (through my vaginal wall) and also feels great during PIV sex as well as masturbation. I think the NJoy sm is well, just too small for most and falls out too easily. Orig. I was going to buy the small but based on a g/f's experience with the sm; I'm glad I did and now have the large and the 2.0. The med still gets the most use.
The handle of the NJoy does not interfere with intercourse for us, and I am a relatively small girl.

Plug of Lust might slip out during sex unless you can hold it in with something.

If you like squish look at the plugs from Vixen Creations. They're the kings/queens of squishy silicone.

*edit* How strange, I thought I was replying to Dwtim's post, not yours, Liz2! I guess I'll stick to one-post replies instead of multiple ones. Sorry for the messy reply!

Dwtim, thanks for your advice! I could take two fingers, but they couldn't stay side-by-side, and ended up one on top of the other when I put them in. In that position, they measured at about 1".

I went and measured all my toys, and to my delight, the bulb of my glass "heart's delight" dildo (similar to link but smaller) measured 1 1/4"- perfect!

..And I couldn't get it in past my sphincter at all. It totally refused to go in, even after watching some porn and relaxing it.

So I suppose that solves my problem- 1" butt toys it is!

Liz2, thanks for your recommendation, but I just had a look- the Tantus Ryder is definitely way too big for me at 1 1/2"! >< I'm actually pretty surprised that you enjoyed it as a first butt plug!

And if I buy a Pure Plug, I think I'm going to go with the small, because as I mentioned above, the 1 1/4" dildo refused to breach my stubborn sphincter, lol! And thanks for the info that it doesn't get in the way during sex!

ScottA, I just had a look at the VIxen plugs- all of them are pretty much out of my size range of 1" :/

Have you experienced the slipping with the POL during sex?

I have had PIV sex with the Plug of Lust but even just in masturbation sessions, it did pop out. It's a wonderful plug and feels great, but it will definitely fall out.

Apart from the Plug of lust, are the other toys I picked (Bootie, Pure Plug, Pleasure No. 1) prone to slipping at all during sex?

Thanks everybody!

Glass toys are going to be harder to insert because of the hardness of the material. There is no give as with a softer material such as silicone. Because you could not get a 1-1/4 glass dildo in, does not necessarily mean you would have the same issue if it were made of silicone. However, everyone's bodies are different.

I love my little Plug Der Lust. The only thing that some people find is that the neck is a little short, but I don't have a problem with it.

I also, although more intermediate and not really a beginner anymore, don't really care for large plugs, started using the Love Pacifier Beginner It is also very comfortable and stimulating at the same time.

I am one who doesn't think everyone "moves on to the next size" although a lot of people do. I like my plugs on the small size, as I also like vaginal penetration while using a plug or beads and plugs which are too large make any kind of vaginal penetration difficult or even impossible (with otherwise amazing toys like the Pure Plug 2.0) I have the same size plugs I "started" with, and we have, a long time ago, moved on to full anal sex, and I still like my plugs and beads not too big. So, you may or may not find the need to move up in size when you get more anal experience. I LIKE the almost shocking feeling of My Man's penis being large in comparison to my plugs and beads, it's fun and exciting, at least for me.

Intertwining @ on one hand, the toy sizes I picked are appropriate for me, knowing that if my vagina can only comfortably take a 1 1/4 dildo....

OK, is that diameter which is straight across, or circumference which is ALL the way around?

Also, I don't think there is any relation between what you are comfortable taking vaginally and what you might like anally. I LOVE huge circumference dildos, vibrators, and penises. However, I like my butt plugs on the smaller size. The way the vagina and the anus work are different, so you'll only know what you like as you go.

Also, personally, I don't like pointed plugs. We have a Crystal Cote plug and even with experience, I don't like the feel of it. Everyone is different. You won't know what you love until you find it.

As for plug popping out during sex. I haven't had too much problem with the Plug der Lust. IMO, the "popping" of toys when they come snapping out is fun, so as long as it doesn't happen at every PIV thrust (which I actually had happen with one toy, the Bubble Butt Ripply, and I didn't like it) it can be fun to put it back in. I haven't had too much problem with the Plug der Lust popping out often, only occasionally, usually when I Come.

Kindred and P'Gell, thanks so much for the tips and advice!

Kindred, I'll definitely bear that in mind, but I think I'll go with what I think I can manage first before moving on to a slightly larger size.

P'Gell, I have a feeling I'll be the same- not moving on to another size, as I REALLY think that I'd find a larger size uncomfortable, and I'll probably stick to light anal play. Plus, my vagina's already pretty tight that my boyfriend sometimes has to loosen me up with his fingers so he doesn't come too soon- larger anal toys would tighten that even more!

Hopefully this holds true for me, or else all the money I spend on these 4 toys will be going to waste, hehe

And the 1 1/4" is definitely diameter, not circumference. If it was circumference, the dildo would be TEENY!

I'm not too sure what I'll like or dislike, so that's why I bought 4 different butt plug shapes to try- I initially thought that the bulged sort like the Bootie or Pure Plug would be uncomfortable and pointy, but the reviews and raves about them all say otherwise..

Thanks again for the advice!

I totally agree with everything Liz2 said about the Njoy Pure Plugs, they are a bit pricier than the silicone plugs but they'll last forever. I have the medium and it's my one and only butt toy, I've threw away all the squishy silicone ones.
