Can an anal toy really become "lost" inside the body?

Contributor: Incendiaire Incendiaire
It's a pretty commonly repeated fact that you should only ever use an anal toy with a flared base, to make sure it doesn't get "lost" inside the body, but if you look on the Internet, you can quite easily find many videos of people inserting objects entirely into themselves - anything from golf balls to double-ended dildos - and subsequently expelling them with little difficulty.

While it does seem like a wise precaution to use something with a flared base, especially for the inexperienced, I'm questioning whether anything can truly become "lost" in the body. Surely what goes in must eventually come out, especially considering that area of the body evolved specifically to excrete things. I can only imagine something getting truly wedged in there, and requiring a trip to the emergency room, if it had very pointy corners or such.

Any thoughts?

Get lost? Well, random things can surely get stuck and/or cause damage, possibly requiring medical help. But specifically: Anal sex toys? Unlikely. Sex toys in general? Damage/pain possible, caution advised. Random household objects? Makes me cringe...

I've worked in Emergency Rooms (I'm a nurse) and I've seen a few situations where if objects were not medically removed the person would have most likely had to deal with intestinal obstruction or intestinal perforation. These situations are NOT something you want. Either can make you very sick or even kill you.

Yes, in porn, people put golf balls, pool balls, toys, fruits and vegetables and all various and sundry things into their anuses, but that doesn't mean we should emulate or even believe everything we see on the internet.

People also drive mini bikes off bridges on internet videos and eat inedible substances, that doesn't make any of these safe.

Check this out

It really does happen, but maybe lost isn't the right wording, since you do know where it is.

I was going to post another link, but just type in google, embarrassing ER stories anal and you will find too many to count.

Even if it's a smooth toy, it can get pulled inside, and if you're reacting with fear rather than being calm, it can be impossible to push it out yourself and require a trip to the ER.

For argument's sake, the toy isn't lost. You know exactly where it is and where to go to get to it. It just gets stuck.

As others have said, the toy isn't actually lost but must be retrieved. I/we love butt play but safety is always there. Our sphincter muscles can act as a very powerful vacuum and just pull an object in deep.

The other issue to consider is that just because an object went in easily does not mean it will come out as easily. Most anal toys, or rather most insertable toys of any kind, are slightly tapered to ease insertion. When you then reverse it, that means the wider end must come out first. Not always an easy thing to accomplish.

But as long as the toy is not hung up on anything and both sides are rounded it's definitely possible. Remember that the rectum's job involves pushing things out of it.

Yes, things can get caught, which is why you need to be careful what you put up there. Something that's flexible and rounded will probably come out just fine if you relax and give it some time. Something that's sharp or pointed needs to have pretty much immediate medical attention,

I have known many nurses, and the impression I get is that it's not even all that uncommon.

People panicking certainly has something to do with it - people end up in the ER because they can't get something out of a vagina, and it's not like there's anywhere for that to disappear to unless they jammed it into their uterus somehow.

The intestines are rather twisty and things put in butts are generally not things people could or would swallow - they're usually a bit larger than that and they're not broken down like a piece of bread would be - so they can certainly be a hazard if they take an adventure to the wrong places and get lodged in there.

The question I would have is how many were really "caught" and required medical extraction vs how many would have come out on their own with no adverse effects.

Certainly! And you have to go to the emergency room to have it removed. I am not really into anal play, but it happened to someone I know...actually, a few people I know.

It certainly happens, but I'm inclined to believe that with a safe, soft toy you're better off giving it a day to work its way back out unless you know of a reason to worry, especially if you can still feel the toy in the rectum.

Go to any emergency room and ask for the box they keep the anal toys and other objects they retreive from people's bodies...every ER has one so ya they can be sucked inside the rectum and need to be removed from the body by a Doctor. We aren't making this shit up!

You're right. It's not uncommon at all.

As for something going into the uterus, it's basically impossible. The cervical os, or the mouth of the uterus, unless you are in labor or have just given birth or had it surgically or mechanically dilated, is closed and sealed with a mucous plus.

The opening of the os is smaller than a pencil eraser in most women, and it would be excruciatingly painful, if not impossible to dilate the os enough to get anything into it.

The cervical os is dilated in order to implant an IUD, for some tests and for some surgical procedures, but most of the time it stays closed, unless you are in labor. And even then, it takes hours and hours and hurts like the dickens to get it open only 10 cm.

I've seen things stuck into butts, but I've never seen a woman manage to get anything into her uterus. Saw a woman get the mouth of a Coke bottle stuck OVER the entire cervix, where it got stuck with suction, but it was around, not in the uterus.
