I'm fortunate to be regular every morning. And one of the benefits or using the NJoy line is they are easy to clean. Soap and water and boil every other week.

First ever plug was a jelly. Pulled it out once to find that it made contact with the unclean and was now stained and smelly.

Though I don't use jelly toys too often anymore, the lesson stuck with me. I always at least douche before, whether or not I feel fine. A little caution never hurts.

Prep to us just using plenty of lube/fingers first. We'll stop to make sure our bowels are clear first, but very seldom go beyond that (enemas, etc.).

I like to clean first because that's always necessary, but I also like to lube up and use my finger a little first as well just to make sure I'm not too tight

Plug 'em all and let God sort it out!
... Anyway, I do take advantage of the occasional enema here and there, but I frequently use a condom on my plugs as to allow for easy cleanup if necessary.

I use plugs around the house and "on the town" and I never "clean up", just really "lube up". Never yet have I had to "worry about it" being soiled coming out. As with anal sex, this has never been an issue. I just make sure I am not needing a bowel movement before any anal play, and things stay clean all by themselves.

I agree with this. I use to do an enema once in a while - but that turned out to cause more problems than it solved.

We're consenting adults - we can handle a little inconvenience during clean up.
Same thing with my "enema" experiment. That would stir things up. Cramps and needing to "go". Made anal play messy, not clean. Tried that many, many years ago, and have not done it since. Now everything stays clean without issues.

Honestly, you will have less mess and issues if you stay away from enemas. As for "smell", there are many lubes with a really nice scent. I may even use a thick anal lube and mix it with another, water based scented lube. My key to very, very long term use (multiple hours), is to take it out and re-lube it every hour or so, and a vented plug helps. My hubby has gotten very skilled and creative at drilling holes right down the middle of an anal plug (doesn't have to be large), and smoothing any burrs after that. In that way, no "gasses" built up behind the plug and it stays very comfortable all evening. We do a lot of fancy social events and it is always a huge turn on to both of us, knowing I have no undies and a beautiful plug in, warming my rear up for his tool, later that evening, when out at some prim and proper formal event.

I usually clean my toys after, with a anti-bacterial soap and plenty of hot water, so that they are ready for the next time.I do this so I can hide them from the grand kids finding them, they found a dildo that was left in the bed.
We always clean our toys with antibacterial, and even sterilize them in boiling water, chlorox (depending on the material of the toy, of course), even though they don't come out "soiled" obviously.

All my toys used to be Jelly and I honestly do miss the feel of them. Soft and compliant. However, after joining EF and seeing how bad the chemicals were, we literally tossed out at last 100 toys.

I prefer being clean, as in having had a bowel movement and showered/wiped down/washed. Also I prepare myself with a nice lubricant as well for ease of insertion, otherwise, it doesn't sit well with me...no pun intended.

This venting idea is really clever & smart!

And I am glad to hear about enemas. I have never tried any anal play, but I think I would at least try if I had a partner who wanted to do that. So, I figured I better explore some by myself. I have had no problem with fingers (but also no pleasure either, just no discomfort at all). My next step is going to be trying a plug and of course I have started to think about cleaning, but that is more so if another person is involved (for myself, I am not phased by my body functions.)

The reality is we all naturally produce gasses in the large intestines. Trapping those behind a plug can be very uncomfortable. I am into sensations, and not pain or discomfort. They used to sell a few kinds of vented plugs, and then they became rare. Strange, since it is a very good idea. Metal plugs can be vented easy. Glass is far more challenging. Silicone, etc, is all hit and miss. You have to be ultra careful to have the right drill, the right bit and most important, the right clamps to hold the plug secure. Hubby got a small drill press just for me..just for that!!! As for Enemas, again, I don't like the idea for all kinds of reasons. I will say, however, that if you have a partner into such play, enemas, as with all anal play, can be very, very exciting together. My hubby dated a girl who taught him all about anal play, in the most serious way. He loves me and we are happily married for ages, but I will admit, he will still get an instant hard on, just mentioning the things she would do to him, with him, for him...etc. Obviously it was a "great time". I sure don't fault him that!!! Everything she taught him just benefits me! Thanks, sister.

I usually shower or bathe before playtime.
