Who wants it? A guy or a girl.

Regardless, lube lube lube. There's more but that's the most important.

Buy anal toys that have good heads, long slim necks, and good bases to prevent the entire toy from slipping inside you. Start nice and slow with a finger before using an actual toy, and with lots of lube.

Which toy would you recommend for a beginner?

First time beginner? Fingers with cut nails and lube. Wear a glove if you want to.

They're available, soft, warm and provide good feedback.

Once you've played with fingers for a while figure out if you like thrusting play or prefer stationary toys. That will show you what direction you want to go next (dildo/probe vs plug).

Or all of the above. I like dildos and I like plugs as well but I do prefer in rather than in/out.

I started with 1-3 fingers before getting joe rock, a silicone plug and then ryder another silicone plug. Getting a dildo soon.
