Has anyone ever made an embarrassing visit to the ER?

Ever since I was interested in anal toys, I've got numerous message that tells me to cautious and avoid that embarrassing visit to the ER. I was wondering if anyone ever had to make a visit to the ER? It's just that people keep referring to it, and I wonder if it actually ever happens.

I've never had it happen, as it's totally avoidable. But it DEFINITELY happens.

It mostly comes down to only putting things up your butt that have been designed to go up your butt. They are most frequently graduated in size (going from smaller to larger) and have flares at the base of the toy to prevent it from going entirely into your rectum. IF you put something up your bum and there's no base or at least a string or some other method of removable (but a flared base is ALWAYS best), then it's very likely that you will not be able to get the item out on your own and will need to go to the ER to get it removed.

SO. You can totally play with anal toys and not have to go to the ER. Just make sure that what you use is actually meant for anal use.

Oh man no not me! I've always been careful to use only safe toys for anal!
It always scared me too much to even think about risking it. I'd hate to have anything stuck inside me!!
I don't know anyone personally who's experienced this either, but any time I hear of it, it's always with some object or toy not intended for use anally, so using a toy with a flared base should always be safe.

I have not, but I did come close.

I was using the Ryder plug, during sex. Im not sure what happened exactly, but it slipped inside of me, and we couldn't reach it for the life of us.

I finally just pushed like I was taking a BM, and it came right out. I promptly threw that plug in the garbage, and have changed my views on what kind of plugs I buy.

You hear stories from medical professionals because they see EVERYTHING, from the mildly humorous to completely horrifying (I'll never forget the one about the plugger)... I know plenty of anal enthusiasts but I've never personally met someone who would cop to that kind of ER visit.

I think that it's pretty rare in the kink and sex positive communities because you're dealing with people who have access to basic safety information and already put a ton of thought into what they're doing. Which is not to say that informed people don't make mistakes or have bad luck, it's just less common. Many of the stories I've heard involved either some jackassesque prank gone horribly bad or someone who was experimenting with unsafe objects because they were too young to buy toys. Really makes you think.
