Does temperature play really work well with steel? I fee like glass would be better for retaining temperature

I have yet to try steel but I'm interested in doing so. I have a glass plug that I soak in hot tap water before inserting and enjoy that. Not sure if I'd like cold.

Metal is much better at conducting heat, I usually don't even have to cool them down when I first get them as they come off the delivery van feeling freezing cold.
