Pros/Cons Glass Butt Plugs

Good topic.. I'm not really interested in looking inside my butt, but I have been curious to know if a glass butt plug is much harder and uncomfortable than a silicone one..

As a manufacturer, I can tell you that glass will serve as a magnifier through the base usually only if it is a clear piece of glass, as color will in a sense get in the way of visiblity. I know that Carrie Ann had reviewed one of our plugs and commented on the comfort level for use during vaginal intercourse. She would be a great person to ask for a reference. I will tell you from feedback that we receive that all bodies seem to respond differently to glass plugs, as it is a hard material. Bodies come in all shapes and sizes, and this is a factor that will definitely affect the overall feel of a glass product during use. Excellent question. I would also be very interested to hear others' opinions on glass, and how it compares to other materials? Metis (@ Tantus), what sort of feeback have you received regarding silicone?

The toys that interest me on EF are probably the sexy spades (small or medium not too sure yet) for the glass. And for silicone i cant decide between Ryder, Tristan, Tulip, and possibly Ringo (I know its not really a 'stay in' plug).
If only i could get them all!!!

Has anyone tried the sexy spades? Any comments of its shape, how the neck sits around your ass etc like Carrie Ann said about?
Does the sexy spades generally have quite a large diameter neck compared to some other toys and therefore gives quite a stretch feeling?

You'll have to let me know if you can see through the base, thought it was a bit strange when my partner first said about it but now kind of interested.

I find glass and metal plugs to be way more comfortable than silicone. (Soft materials make my sphincter feel really odd)

The problem with seeing through the Sexy Spades line is the color. Having held it up to the light, you just can't see through it. There's light, but no details of what's on the other side. You can't really look through clear glass toys very well, either, because refraction distorts the image so much. Even with a simple, smooth shape, you don't get a window-like view. It's more like the reflections in a spoon, or the refraction through those thick, wavy glass bricks. To actually look up inside someone's ass with a plug, you'd probably need a cylinder with a very flat top and bottom. This would probably not be comfortable to insert at all.

I'm a bit of an anal beginner; I have the Sexy Spades Small, and I do have to work up to it with fingers, then a slow progression up the taper. It's a fast taper, but with a smooth material like glass it's doable with patience and a good lube.

My one issue with it is the base. That round base irritates my cheeks if I walk around or sit down while using it. It's fine for sex and any play where I'm lying down, but I'd much prefer an oval or bar-shaped base for longer play.

yes, I should have mentioned that too, although you can see through a clear piece of glass, it is not going to be a crystal clear "picture", rather a "novelty" view just for fun, if that's what you're looking for.

It is by far the most comfy, pleasurable plug I have ever tried. And being all clear looks stunning.
Its a nice size for anyone that is looking for something around 1 - 1.25 inches in diam so its great from the anal novice to move up the line to bigger toys.

BTW, even though its clear, even with a light you cannot really see inside, only some pinkness from the sphincter. Mainly because of how the glass distorts the view. I have even tried with a plug that is about 2.36 inches in diam, and its still hard to see inside - link

I have since bought a clear glass plug, with my partner wanting to be able to see inside my ass. As everyone said you can't really see inside very easily (i used a mirror to try to look and my man took a few photos as well to let me see what it looked like) but it was still quite hot and i enjoyed showing off my ass to my partner.

I love the hardness of the glass and it just slippery as anything with lube.
The next purhases i need to make are some of the styles with coloured stones in the bottom so that my ass can have its own jewellery to look and feel sexy with.

I would never recommend using a glass butt plug, if asked for my personal experience. I do like rough sex and I do like a level of pain during sex which is why he and I tried anal glass toys/plugs. I could not set down properly for days after the use and was internally bruised. I would recommend sticking with glass for vaginal use and other materials for butt plugs; if you are looking for strength and switch your toys into multi-purposes ones (I do this) never use a jelly for strength (which I'm sure you are saying duh!). My experience with a glass anal toy and a glass plus (tried this twice) was pain, pain, and discomfort days later. You may want to keep such in mind.

I think the main message behind your posting is that glass is not very good for fierce thrusting and generally rough play.
I think everyone would agree with this, even vaginally i know girlfriends that have said glass can be painful when thrusting.
I think most glass toys made for anal play are plugs and there is a reason for this. Glass toys are not really made for anal thrusting only reall for the feeling of fullness

Just my opinion, be good to hear what everyone else thinks

A home made solution would be to find a local glass blower and get him/her to round off a spare glass rod. Would likely cost about the same or less and would also have good to excellent optical characteristics.
