Ryder hands down. I do not think the Plug of Lust would stay in half as good due to the small neck. Also the base of the PoL does not look very comfy for long term wear.

For a newbie, those are both pretty large plugs. I would consider getting a smaller toy for your first plug. You might look into the small (or at least the medium) Plug of Lust, the FunFactory Bootie, or the LELO Bob.

I vote the Ryder of these two, but I agree with Selective Sensualist's statement. These might be considered more intermediate plugs. The Bootie is a good "beginner" plug that I have experience with.

Of the two, I would definitely go for the Ryder, but with a diameter of 1 1/2 inches, it might not be the easiest beginner toy. If you've used toys anally before you'd probably love it. If you are looking for a more "beginner" toy, with a smaller diameter, I've heard great things about the Bootie.

I'd say the Ryder, but honestly, I recommend you start a lot smaller, and with something tapered, like one of the classic cone-shaped ones.

Some pointed plugs can be uncomfortable, especially for a beginner. Go with ryder.
