Another consideration is lube - water-based can dry out, whereas oil or silicone can stain clothes. I'd think some kind of shield/guard for the clothing would be a good idea.
As far as the plug goes, look for a small yet secure base, long neck, and a noticeable bulge between the body and neck (all help to keep it in and unobtrusive). less

But if I was uber comfortable with the plug and had great lube, this would be fun.
