What anal toy should I get for my husband who has never tried anything anal before?

Contributor: Ivy Wilde Ivy Wilde 05/26/2011

I have recently started getting toys for myself and want to get something for my husband. He has never tried anything anal before, and since I have long fingernails, just using my finger isn't really an option. So... I'm asking for suggestions. Should I get him a small anal plug? A vibrating probe? Some other sort of thing?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm interested in finding out more about what beginner anal toy would make a good gift for my husband who is completely inexperienced in anal play.

For a beginner, I would recommend a small, tapered anal plug. As far as materials go, I would suggest silicone. It is firm enough to push through tight sphincter muscles, but also soft enough to be comfortable for someone not used to penetration. Some toys I own and think could work would be the Tantus Slim and Tantus Ripple Small. But I have also heard good things about the li'l end, the Tantus Little Flirt, and the Pleasure #1. The Pleasure #2 and regular flirt are slightly bigger but still good options.

Good recommendations above!
Something made of silicone with a good flared base is a must.

The Love Pacifier Beginner is also a good choice,
along with some (water-based) Maximus Lube link.

It will stay in better than some of the others and is easy to remove.
Light tugging or playing with the ring when in is always good fun.

Lube.

Once you have that put on a glove and play with fingers for a while. Once you/he find(s) out what stimulation he likes best (thrusting=dildo, stationary=plug, rocking might be a prostate massager) and what size he wants then you get a nice silicone toy.

I got the Pleasure #1 and I think it's a perfect size reminiscent of a finger. It went in really easily and is all silicone so you can boil and sterilize it, too.

1.Well lubricated "Key to Your Butt" is about the best beginner toy there is, male or female. VERY smooth, thin, but comfortable and long enough to get a feel inside from it (unlike some "beginner plugs". However, as I said in another post, NOTHING beats the sensation and complete amazing ability to enhance orgasm and prostate stimulation like a WELL LUBED finger. When attached to a person who can think and feel and manipulate, it beat any plastic, metal, wood or glass toy all to heck in SMARTS. If you really want to please your hubby, then just cut ONE nail short (my wife did), and if going out, she uses a "press on nail" in the same color or polish, and no one notices. Besides, keeping ONE nail very short and trimmed is a constant reminder to her and me BOTH of the HOT games that we play when together. That alone is a MAJOR turn on during the day.

If you are looking to stimulate his prostate I would suggest something that has various vibrations/pulsations. I have something called the scorpion stinger, EF doesn't carry it. It has 10 vibe/pulse settings, is thin & flexible. I have found that a plug just sits there & I don't get much pleasure just from that, & something real wide he might freak out the 1st time.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions. I'll look at all the toys you suggested and discuss them with hubby to see what he thinks he would enjoy.

I was afraid the idea of vibrations would be more intimidating than something that doesn't vibrate, but it is definitely something to consider. Thanks!

My wife tried the Dr.Joel Kaplan prostate massager on me. I was a little hesitant on the whole idea but with enough lube and taking her time it was an unbelievable experience. It is small for starters and you control if it vibrates or not and how intense. Just a couple times with that led to the purchase of a plug and then a dildo and harness for her to take me with. It has opened a whole new chapter to our sex lives and one I wish I would have explored earlier.

I would recommend the Rude Boy as a good first time toy. You will want to start with a finger and lots of lube, then work up to it.

Tantus Silk Small or Nexus G-Play Small are great for beginners. One is straight and one is curvy, both are silicone and safe.
