That's a very good point. My biggest is over 3" in diameter but it's very short, maybe 6".

The head of the largest dildo that I've taken in was 10" in girth. That was the thickest part of the toy. The shaft was 9" in girth. I couldn't take more than 7.5" of that toy in. It was too thick the make the curve inside of me in order to slide in deeper.

Agreed. While I haven't had any problems, I haven't had anything longer than 8 inches, so I wouldn't know. Still, I don't think the length would matter as much to me as the width.

Anal isn't for every one, but I can tell you, the key is in relaxation. If you are at all nervous, your anus will clench automatically. You have to "train" your self. Start with something small and thin, lie on your side with one leg bent and to the side, even propping up that leg on a pillow. Relax, use lube, and go slowly. It helps to be really aroused, maybe even using a vibe on your clit at the same time. I don't know if this is for you, but I found having a few drinks helped me relax a LOT and not think about it so much. I can also tell you that sometimes just putting the tip in and holding it there makes it uncomfortable. If you can slide it in past that first inch or two, it feels better. I know when I first started allowing my partner to fuck me anally, it was better if he just slowly put all of himself in me, than prodding the entry and holding his head right there. If he just slowly kept pushing until he was all the way in, it worked a lot better. Also, at first, he couldn't thrust, just hold himself all the way in and I would grind or rock a little bit and it felt great. Start with fingers and small things to get used to relaxing the anus and enjoying the feelings. I'd say plan on a couple of months before trying anything "full size", and be sure to use plenty of foreplay (both "front" and "back") and lube.

Don't force yourself. It will just cause you to tense up more. Like other people have said, work up from just a fingertip, well lubricated, to a little more, take it slow.

Also, if you have an orgasm or 8 before you even attempt anal penetration it will make it MUCH easier. It relaxes you, and if you are one to stay horny after orgasms, it works to your advantage. I've also found that having a dil or phallic vibe used vaginally REALLY helps. It's a familiar feeling and it is also stimulating at the same time.

Give it some time and some slow work. But, anal sex isn't for everyone. Some people have very unyielding anuses, I don't know why.

I wouldn't think "hang on for the ride" even if it's what you're doing. Thinking that would be more likely to tense you up than some other things. Make it so you know you're safe and then relax and enjoy the ride.
