Instead of carefully choosing a plug, I just reached in the cabinet and grabbed some lube and the first one which came to hand...I realized the plug was usually too big for me to take without warming up with a smaller toy...but I went for it anyway--and fortunately, it went in with very little discomfort. 6 months ago, 1I could not have inserted that plug with no warm-up. It kind of depends on how much I have been playing recently. Generally though I can't take much more than 1.75" without any warm up. And even that is pushing it if it is just a quick plunge in.

It depends on both the day and what you mean by warmup. I can usually go up to the 1.75 to 2" diameter range without using a smaller warm-up toy, but I often do "warm-up" a bit with the toy itself. In and out, wiggle, gentle pressure, and the like.
Unless I'm really tight I can usually get a 1.25-1.5" diameter toy in without much fuss - just lube and gently slide in.

It's a horrid way to describe it, but most people take bigger shits than the toys that are commonly available. Lube and preparation are very important, and for some even with all the prep in the world their mind says they can't take anything over 1" less

The biggest toy I can insert vaginally without warm up is the Lelo Ella's pointed end. I think it helps that it's extremely smooth and tapered on that side. I have vaginismus, so warm-up is ~really~ necessary for vaginal penetration to be comfortable and pleasurable.
