Absolutely - read the product reviews. We have a dozen or so glass toys and never had a break or incident. Buy one or two and try them out - you're going to be glad you did.
It is safe. However if it chips (e.g. when you drop it or if it bumps against another one in the drawer) you have to get rid of it. So taking care of it is important - putting a washcloth on the bottom of the sink, keeping in a soft pouch etc.
