How do you feel about flesh-colored toys?

Contributor: EffinSara EffinSara
Flesh-colored toys seem to be widely available in most soft materials, but I have a hard time imagining that there's really that big of a preference for beige/tan/caramel/brow n over all of the fun colors that are out there. In some cases (*cough*Randy*cough) more colorful versions of toys have been discontinued, leaving only the flesh-colored versions available.

I'm curious: how does the EF community feel about flesh-toned toys?

Personally, flesh-colored toys creep me out and do not put me in a sexy mood at all.

I really don't mind either way, but I like funky colors because I like funky colors. If something is hot pink or neon green I'll more likely get it than a flesh colored one just because I like hot pink and neon green more than flesh colors.

I tend to buy non-realistic toys as a rule, and will only consider a more realistic-looking dildo if the color is not realistic.

I share your opinion that it's somewhat creepy to have a truly realistic dildo. But I am able to admire a well-made one, but I won't buy it.

I guess it's like when people are incomfortable with toys with a smiling face...

I would rather have flesh than pink, orange, lilac or magenta or robin's egg blue.

I'm uncomfortable with toys that have angry faces and are showing teeth.

I like all colors. It really is not important to me. I like to have a variety of everything. And how it feels is way more important to me than what it looks like.

I love flesh colored toys but I also love fun colors. But because I love them both, to say I didnt care would be a bit of an understatement.

I do have a bit of a preference for well done flesh colored toys. Though obviously what matters is the 'business' performance of the toy, realism is good for a deeper fantasy.

My husband prefers them for me, but I'd much rather have green, blue, black - something bright and fun colored

I love flesh-colored toys, but I enjoy other fun colors as well. Now that I think about it, I currently have only one flesh-colored toy. Hmmm.

I definitely prefer fun colors, especially with silicone! "skin tone" usually isn't very skin-colored at all, anyway.

I love the Vixskin line.....I think if they were turquoise or something it would be just awful.

I'm with you on this. I can't imagine the Vixskin Tex in hot pink!
I do have real colors and flesh colored toys but so many times, I will grab a color toy for play.

I love color and since flesh IS a color I guess I wouldn't mind. What I don't like, is when the toy looks like a real penis. If I want something that looks like a penis then I'm going to get the real thing from my husband. He's the only flesh colored penis that I have and want.

If general I would prefer toys that do try to appear realistic, but that is just a personal preference. So for me the crazy colors, shapes, and designs are more appealing.

I prefer fun colours, which is a personal preference thing. I am not so much into pastels, for example, but am all over raging hot pink.

I like flesh coloured dildos when they really should be flesh coloured. The vixskin dicks, as noted above by a few, look fab in flesh colours. In fun shapes, however? No thank you.

Slightly off topic but sort of relevant: don't you HATE when companies call Caucasian tones "flesh tone"? As if there's only one flesh tone and that tone is obviously white. The other non-white tones are usually called something confection-related like "caramel" or "chocolate".

I prefer flesh colored toys for use with my partner, and neutral colors for solo play. Black is a nice generic color. Purples are also nice. I mostly avoid bright pink, orange or blue tones.

I love all the fun colors. But, my husband doesn't get it. He thinks if your going to play around with toys should they look like the real thing. I'm working on changing his thinking though.

Put me on the list of people who hate flesh colored toys and are very creeped out by them. I don't want something that looks like a severed penis in my drawer! I went ahead and bought the Adam Pleasureskin dildo in beige because of all the reviews and I'm still creeped out by it whenever I see it in my drawer. It's a total turn off for me. I've also been known to buy toys based on color lol I mean I look for other things first but color is definitely in my top 5 list of 'things I look for in a sex toy'. Are you reading this, sex toy makers?

I know right? as if I want something called caramel or chocolate anywhere near my sensitive parts. I'm still waiting for a toy called "olive tone" or they start calling them by foundation colors can you imagine a dildo in the color "buff beige" and "fresh ivory"? LOL sorry I'm cracking myself up here!

I do not buy many, but will only get the realistic ones. I am male, it is for my wife for pretend MFM. IMO, if it is not realistic, then it is not as exciting!

Flesh colored (anyone's flesh, not just Caucasians) and realistic toys really creep me out. Plus I like fun colors..and black.

Flesh colored toys creep me out. Well, flesh colored toys that are also shaped like penises. I've never considered ones not shaped like penises. Hmm.

I used to hate flesh colored toys... still sort of get squicked out by a lot of them... but then I got a Vixskin Tex...

And. Oh boy. That's one gorgeous penis.
