Lots of lube is a must.
I've found too, that when a toy is too big, it does help to work up to it. I'd start with a size you're comfortable with, and get toys in between (by 1/8" or 1/4" increases in diameter).

Love the title. I unfortunately have the same problem with my husband, yes that’s right my husband even after two kids, and yes all of the above really helps but sometimes you just need to stop trying so hard and just let it be. A larger dildo might require some effort to work up to which will be stretching the vagina, but given time, the vagina will return to its original size. It is extremely resilient. Entire babies pass through those things and the vagina is still able to return to its original size.
