Softest Material?
I think the softest material is probably the skin-like things, but for anal I think insertion is easier if it's not too squishy, and can hold it's shape a bit, so I'd probably go for a softer silicone. Maybe O2, or Vixskin might be a good choice. It's soft and has give to it, but the inner core means it still keeps it's shape.

Of the ones I've tried, silicone is the softest, though just how soft it is depends on how it's made and who's making it. If you want something uber-duber incredibly amazingly squishy and soft, try Tantus's Super Soft formula. VixSkin silicone is also pretty amazing, and though I only own two VixSkin toys, I think it might be my personal favorite material.
