In a curious mood tonight, so it's random question time! What was your first dildo made of? Did you know anything about materials when you got it? Were you happy with it?

My first was made of silicone. I hadn't learned about material safety just yet, but I felt I needed to start small and the Silk Small from Tantus fit that bill.

Jelly. It was awful. Claimed to be 'waterproof'. I still haven't junked it (I DO NOT use it though)...there's horrible rust in the battery compartment.

My first dildo was a plastic one from Walgreens. I used it as a dildo more often than a vibe because it would break all the time and stop vibrating. I've upgraded since, thank goodness.

Heehee, I didn't know Walgreens sold toys. Shouldn't be surprised, I guess. Recently pharmacies and Targets around here have been carrying them, too. I'll have to peek in at the Walgreens near where I work, just to see.

My first and only is the Amethyst (glass). I love it and I recommend it. It's only like 25 bucks. I knew about materials when I got it, but learned the hard way hard way to be carful with glass.

We didn't buy dildos for a long time - everything was vibes. Mostly cheap plastic and jelly because we didn't know any better. The first toy I ever bought that did not vibrate was a glass dildo.

The first dildo I bought was silicone because I had read about material safety/longevity while shopping for it. My first ever dildo was homemade I must have been been about 14, and for lack of another option I wrapped a marker in bubble wrap and a layer of saran-wrap. I look at my bedside table full of dildos and vibes and plugs, and am so happy I'm now an adult with a credit card!

Heh, I completely forgot about the one I made when I was like, sixteen. Black model magic clay, about the size of a cigarette... it did nothing for me and I had to rinse a bunch of black powder out of myself.

Mine was silicone, and intentionally chosen that way. When I started looking into sex toys I didn't have any idea about materials or designs, so I looked around. What I saw about jelly and rubber toys convinced me to save up for silicone.
