I prefer glass because I feel it's more sanitary and easier to clean and bleach, but both work well.

I have both. I like glass more because of the weight. If you are not a fan of the weight, try wood. I highly recommend trying glass. It is awesome.

I love glass, and I also love wood. It's probably smart to start with a glass one since they're more affordable, but PLEASE DO try wood too. Looooovely. I like the light weight, especially when you can get a lot of leverage or rocking. Wood seems naturally warmer than glass does (I always have to wait a while for my glass to warm up), and they're both equally easy to clean.
