How important is "green" when it comes to your sex toys?

I try to choose wisely... To me that means products that I'm pretty certain that I'll like and can enjoy for a long time. So materials that can last with proper care, toys that have multiple functions and uses... I'll also save up for larger purchases rather than buy a lot of little things that I may end up throwing away. Rechargeable toys are great as well.

Body safe is at the top of the list, I love minimal and recyclable packaging as well. I do my best to reduce my trash and impact as much as possible.

I try to be as green as I can, but as all of my sex toys have had to be flown halfway across the globe , even the greenest of toys has created a huge carbon foot print before I get to touch it.

I try to be as green as possible in everything I do (composting, buying local, bringing my own shopping bags to the farmer's market, etc), so sex toys are no exception to me. I use organic lube (Sliquid), and for the most part, try to buy toys made from silicone, and ones that are rechargeable, or plug in. However, I have been known to purchase (and love) toys that are made from plastic, or at least partly from plastic, and these are not the most green. I just do the best I can with the options available.

I use toys that look like fun and are body safe, I'll use rechargeable batteries in my vibes to save my own wallet and to help the environment, but I'll use ordinary batteries when necessary and if I bought only locally made toys, I'd be missing out. I hate rechargeable things, too, because once they stop recharging, you have to throw them out. I prefer things with a battery compartment I can put my own rechargeable batteries in.

Most green toys are a bit pricy for me or don't have the features I'm looking for but if i do see something green that matches what I'm looking for then I'm all over it!

I think glass & wood & steel would fall into "green" toys, wouldn't they? if so, i'm pretty green when it comes to mine, because I love glass/steel toys.

Honestly, I put a lot of effort into being green in all other aspects of my life. When it comes to sex toys, I like to spoil myself! It's my guilty pleasure.

Generally I prefer rechargeable, though that can mean that the toy itself is rechargeable or that rechargeable batteries can be used in them.
This is funny given what I've been talking about and dealing with tonight:

1. I got a vibrator that uses AAs and promptly got a rechargeable duracell stuck in it. Three different types of pliers later, it seems fine (and to work OK with Energizer rechargeables). I'll post the whole story in my review.

2. I was just on a post about green toys and was extolling the hardwood dildo guy because he seems to use reclaimed wood in a lot of cases (e.g., from a hurricane in Virginia ... I was tempted to offer him my tree that came down in Irene.)

3. I was just on another post about recycling sex toys, including sending them in for recycling and the idea of passing along underused, nonporous toys. I'm all for that.

What I HATE is the watch batteries that die after one use. I really can't deal with that. I've had toys that do that and I end up never using them because it creeps me out to spend 2 watch batteries, or whatever, to get myself off. Why use those when there are other toys that don't make you have to deal with that?

I try to be as green as I can, while still enjoying life...sex life included. I do recycle all the packaging and mostly use natural toys.

Honestly you can be "green" with rechargeable batteries Your toys don't have to be rechargeable themselves When I buy battery operated toys, I make sure they use AA or AAA. Then use rechargeable batteries with them. It works well for me. I save a lot of money on batteries, also feel better about the waste.

For me, vibrators are like this:

- Must be rechargeable

- Must be of high quality material (Silicone, usually)

Packaging I could care less about. But I do recycle it if it is recyclable.

I do what i can to be green, but i think i am green in other areas more than in my sex life. Although i do have to have more natural products and hypo-allergenic because i am sensitive to many things. Also No latex around me, red sore rashes are not fun to have inside your v-jayjay!!!
