I think perhaps wood or steel would be more so. With vegetables, you really need to cover them in a condom - or you risk stuff like yeast infections and more. But I don't have a problem with people taking informed risk. *shrug*

I tried sticking a cucumber in my ass once, right out of the fridge. It took some lube and effort to get it in... but it felt good, it had all that natural texture and bumps... plus the coldness felt nice. But, that was when I didn't have any real toys. Now that I do, I can't say that I have any desire to fuck a vegetable again
