It's unattractive. When I wear my thongs I make sure my jeans are pulled up and over the straps. I remember girls wearing their thongs like that in high school. The boys finally had a fit and put up a huge ass sign saying, "Either put on some pants or put on some granny panties *name* *name* *name*" Like 20 names was on that sign. Needless to say the girls didn't do it again. XD My name wasn't on there. I knew better.
