Okay guys, I need you to explain corset sizing to me!

I have a bazillion corsets, but they've all been sized in the s-m-l way. How do you go about picking a size when they're like this one, with sizes like 34/36/38? Do you go with your bra band size? I'm a little lost!

I think it's sized off of your bust, but I'm not 100% sure.

there are several different size charts. While looking at the product, above the available sizes is a link to a size chart. You also have to look at the company that made the corset, and then look at their size chart.

That works great for the things that run in normal sizes, but not the type of item I'm talking about here, sadly.

I am not close to being able to order yet. I would live to but I have to get few things first. I plan on it eventually.

With a steel boned corset, the sizing is based off your (natural) waist size. Not so sure about this, though.

This particular corset seems to be measured by bust size.

Steel boned underbust corsets are usually measured by natural waist size and subtracting 4-6" from that number. I'm not sure about steel boned overbust corsets since I don't own any but I'm guessing it has something to do with natural waist size and bust size. I know overbusts are harder to measure for and should more often than not be custom made if possible. Sorry, kinda rambled there..

Any other theories?

I'm guessing it doesn't go by waist size, since the smallest is 32. I might be brave and order on Monday!

The size chart on DreamGirl's site only offers the same info as on the EF chart (s/m/l/etc.), so no luck there.

I go off of my band size. I've always had great luck doing it that way so I am pretty positive that is what it should be. Or you can convert like this...30- XS 32-S, 34-M, 36-L, 38-XL, 40-1x Etc.
