I've recently taken an interest in buying lingerie for my my wife; I've been reading lots of reviews, checking out the product pages, etc.

One thing I've noticed is that two adjectives are used way more than any others to describe a piece of lingerie: "cute" and "sexy". I think a lot of great pieces manage to be both cute AND sexy... but some are cute without being particularly sexy, while others are sexy as hell - but not cute.

If a piece of lingerie is just cute or sexy (but not both), which do you prefer?

I'm the same way. I prefer things that make me feel sexy - whether that's something overtly sexy or something more tame (i.e. cute), it depends on my mood.

I agree with this whole-heartedly. There are some nights where I want to be the foxiest thing to walk the earth, and other nights where something sweet and innocent would cater better to my mood. I know that it's not helpful that I'm not choosing one or the other, but for me, lingerie is majorly dependent on how I feel, and rather than essentially force myself to feel one way, I'd prefer to cater to how I'm already feeling.

Well, as a guy, I totally prefer sexy! But if I had to actually wear it, I'm sure I'd prefer comfortable. Cute vs. sexy would be a secondary consideration.

Of course, when my wife wears lingerie, comfort is just a minor issue - she almost never wears it more than a few minutes!

Agreed! The only requirement for lingerie is that it's got to make me feel sexy. Sometimes I want a more dark and demure sexy and sometimes I like a flirty, cute sexy. My guy goes more for the bubbly, flirty cute looks; i.e. high socks and short shorts.

I really enjoy when a piece is both but if I had to pick just one I would want to be cute all the way! Plus most things here that I find cute I also see as sexy so as long as I'm liking it, that's all that really matters =)
I think it also depends on how you look, I have a babyish face so if I wore something overly sexy I'd most likely just look odd, but I look good in something both a little cute and sexy at the same time. If you have a face that is more beautiful and more womanly than girl looking then you'll be right at home with the full sexy look.
