I love lingerie in general, but if I were forced to pick just one thing, I'd go with garterbelts and stockings, namely black lace. Too sexy for words.

Hmm, you know I guess that is kind of true. More of an "outfit" and many can be worn in public. I've never thought about whether I technically consider them lingerie. So I guess I'd agree, a matching bra and panty set would make a great gift, and it would be easier to sneakily get her size if it's a surprise.

I didn't even see that this was about buying for a gift. Ugh LOL Then I would especially not go with a real corset because of sizing issues. Most women won't even know how to buy one.

I think a bra and panty set is not intimating and available in enough styles that you could feel out whether a more serious piece of lingerie would be acceptable in the future.

I like a lot of those choices, but a sexy bra and panty set would probably be the easiest and safest, plus the most versatile since they can be worn anywhere, anytime.

But I will say that one of the sexiest gifts my husband ever bought for me was a pair of crotchless pantyhose. We both LOVED them, especially outside the house.

Corsets and bustiers are hands down the best in our books. They have the best combination of sexiness and don't reveal too much right away. You have to put a little more effort into the act, and that adds so much to the experience.

A pretty corset with a nice set of thigh highs will make ANY woman feel beautiful. I had one of the most beautiful corsets that I gave away when an ex and I split, I wish I had it back so bad now. I felt so pretty in it, even when I was just trying it on to see if it still fit. LOL

Corsets hands down but I also wear them with jeans so not always in the category of lingerie, combined with thigh highs and garters ... yum. All women look hot in that get up, but as a gift for a lover then a sexy set of bra and panties always go down a treat, the key is what she feels sexy in too.

I honestly have no idea. I love seeing my little girl in everything. I'm torn between babydolls and stockings and garter belts. I love seeing her in cute things, so really any of them are good, as long as they're cute on her (which everything is).

Thanks everyone for all the input! I do find corsets extremely sexy but from what I've seen here and while shopping it seems corsets are just beyond my shopping know how without my girlfriends input. Since I want to surprise her I think I will end up going with some kind of hosiery and hopefully a garter. It just seems that they would be the best combination of sexy and easy to size without having too ask her too many leading size questions. Now the only problem is whether to go fishnet or sheer but definitely black, thigh high with a lace top!

Which is more comfortable for the girl: fishnet, sheer, or doesn't it matter?

In general, I'd say the sheer pantyhose type is a bit more comfortable but thigh highs of any sort are much more comfortable than full pantyhose and I would consider the type negligible. Maybe try to match is to the type of stuff she wears?

I would agree, for a gift stockings and a garter belt are a safe way to go, and very sexy too! And as merinus mentioned earlier, the crtochless variety can be a hell of a good time. As for fishnet vs. sheer, I find them each equally comfortable and sexy - depends on the rest of her outfit, imo, it's more of a style decision than a comfort decision.

Also, does anyone get off on body stockings? Everytime I look at someone wearing one of those things it just looks ridiculously funny to me... hehe...

I picked garter belt and stockings, but the thing is, I'm still looking for a decent garter belt. Any advice about brands that are good? I looked at Victoria's Secret and I don't like the ones they have. I want something basic and classy.

I like the garter belts that Kiss Me Deadly makes... well-made, beautiful, retro-style designs that are still basic enough for everyday wear. Also, comfy! link

As for me, I looooove lingerie and am HUGELY picky. Not price- or brand-wise, because I have lingerie from Victoria's Secret and even H&M that I adore and was super cheap. I also have some Agent Provocateur sets that I never wear. But design and materials are very important to me.

Nothing says truly sensual style like a really nice corset. A bra and panties with a matching garter belt is pretty sexy, IMO, but a well-made corset has everything else beat hands down.
