allergic reactions to lube

Contributor: greenrose greenrose
I have been using Sliquid's Satin lube for about 2 years now & loved it. About 3 weeks ago, I developed horrible itching both internally & externally. MY GP said I had slightly elevated yeast organisms & I dutifully took 2 doses of a prescription anti-fungal oral med. A week ago, wanting to have some fun, I lubed up my favorite rabbit & enjoyed myself. Not 10 minutes after orgasm, I had that horrible itching again which makes me think that I had an allergic reaction, 'cause a yeast infection doesn't fire up that fast. Satin doesn't have parabens & glycerine, 2 of the most irritating ingredients. I also practice scrupulous cleaning of my toys.

Has anyone experienced this?

It is possible you are allergic to the product. I would check the ingredients list and see if there are any fragrances or other additives that could possibly cause a problem - perhaps the formula has changed recently. The only other thing could be that your yeast infection was not totally gone or has returned and the play plus the lube pushed the yeast out onto your labia which caused a more rapid irritation as it was being rubbed directly into delicate, sensitive skin.

I would try changing lubes and see if you still have a problem and possibly go out and buy an over-the-counter yeast infection treatment like Monistat (the 3-day vaginal suppository one is more than adequate and generic brand is just as good) just to be sure the infection is gone. It might be more effective than the oral medication you took.

Best of luck!

I would 1st research the most common lube ingredients to learn about the allergic symptoms can result from them.

Interesting. However considering how old this post is there is no point in me passing on a medical possibility at this juncture.

That said I would be interested in finding out if you discovered the cause of you issue.

Was it the lube, was it the toy, was it something else?
