Glass toys for beginners?

Contributor: sunnyc sunnyc
I have never used any glass toys. For some reason using them makes me nervous. Could anyone recommend some good glass toys for beginners?

Perceptive forum discussions on Glass dildo:

Hmm... glass toys just went on sale for Friday.
I'm tempted by several of the glass toys on sale, any thoughts? I already have the Amethyst and so I'm thinking I'll go with texture this time. The

Doesn't glass get too slippery?
I've never used glass before but it seems like it would get too slippery to hold. DO you have ways around this or is it not a problem?

Glasses: do you take them off during sex?
I wear glasses, and I cant see a thing without them - but during sex they can be very much in the way, tangling in my hair etc. So I usually take them

Glass experience?
This is my first toy, let alone glass toy. What are the advantages and disadvantages of other materials? Did I pick a weird starting place? I do like.

Glass toy pricing
What do you think the deal is with the WIDE pricing for glass toys? They are all the same material obviously and some are fancier than others but...

My first (and only still) was the Pink Swirl G. I would highly recommend! It has decent girth, but nothing too intimidating, and a gently curve for g-spot stimulation. It also has some texture to it, which is very nice! You can check out mine and others' reviews on it to see if it is right for you.

My first glass piece, and first dildo period, was the Gold Laced G.

Not to big, gently curved, and textured.

The trick with glass is just to start off slow and careful.

Oooh! I know a few that I think are amazing beginner glass toys, but of course it's going to depend on your preferences & what types of sizes you enjoy in other toys. For me, I use small-average sized toys so I stick with the same when it comes to glass. My first was the Rotator (image below) and I think it was an amazing first glass piece and it has been one I've enjoyed for a looong time! Still do.

Darn! Nevermind. I cannot find a photo of the freaking Rotator on Eden anymore!!! It looks like they don't carry it?! Noooo! Hang on, I'll find you a photo of that sucker from somewhere....

Found one!

(I have the one in pink. EF used to sell these in pink and blue. I'm sad if they really stopped carrying them! This has had pretty good reviews too, from what I remember.)

That's the rotator! The reason I think it's one of the best for beginners (and advanced too) is because of the short length means there's no big worries about it hurting you, being thrust too far or causing cervical injury or bruising, which actually has never happened to me, but people say it happens with glass. It has a somewhat bulbous tip, so insertion is super is, the size is not thick and there are swirls for extra textured stimulation. The one and only thing I think that could be a downside to this toy is that some people find the raised swirls to be uncomfortable after a good while. I also like that you can focus on just twirling the Rotator rather than thrusting. I thought this was a great way to enjoy glass without going straight into thrusting with it. You can really take time and feel a new sensation and you can thrust too, but it's enjoyable just rotating in there too!

And like I said, it does depend on your preferences. So if you wanted something with a tip for g-spot stimulation, I think Sweet Lola is amazing. In fact, Sweet Lola has given me the best g-spot orgasms out of all my toy collection! I love it. The shaft is pretty slender, it is kind of long, and the bulbous tip is... well, bulbous, but not big. I really love that one. Here is a photo of it:

Another favorite of mine is the Princess Wand, but I can't say I recommend it for a beginner.

And if you just want something very sleek, with no texture or g-spot tip, something like these below might be best:

However, I personally don't find the straight, no-textured glass wands to be as much fun as one like Sweet Lola with a bit of a bulbous tip. My favorite type of glass toy is one with what I describe as a "stacked ball" kind of texture -- where it's a few or more ball shaped right on top of each other. Like one end of the Princess Wand -- amazing! I love it, but I didn't care for the Bubble Thriller for some reason, although it is all a big ball-stacked wand. Can't say I really recommend these unless you definitely want something like that.

Icicles No. 17 is a pretty beginner friendly dildo, I think. It has a small shaft, small ball tip & looks nice.

And if you do want to try something sleek, but with a more textured end, the Avalon looks very good for that. It just has some "wavyness" to it as well as a bulbed-like tip. One end is less wavy though. Here's a photo to explain what I am saying:

Enjoy is almost completely sleek, but seems to have some ridges on it. It may be too thick, depending on what you like.

I'd say it depends on how adventurous you are as a beginner. When I was a glass beginner I was scared of the firmness of it. I didn't think I'd like something that hard in me. I'd tried two other anal toys that were silicone. I have an anal fixation, so I knew I wanted to try a glass anal toy someday.

One day I came across a great deal on Eden and researched the toy with the highest ratings and a good enough size for me. I ended up buying the Icicles No. 37 and LOVED IT! I wouldn't consider it a general beginner's toy (because of the bumps on it) but for me it worked out just great as my first anal glass toy.

If breaking is what you're nervous about, that's nothing to be concerned about. Borosilicate is very resistant.

The Deep Water G is one of my favorites. The Charming Duet, I'd say, is nearly perfect for someone new to glass. It's fairly slim and slightly textured, and awesome!

I'd suggest the Love Journey (though the Sweet Lola is similar and also also good, as kendra30752 suggested). It's gently curved for g-spot stimulation, without getting caugh on your pubic bone like some toys can, and the handle is nice. It's easy to rock or thrust with and figure out what sensations feel best to you. I wouldn't suggest getting a texture toy until you're use to the feeling of glass.
