Jelly Butt Plugs and the Burning Question

Contributor: Raizer911 Raizer911
Poly vinyl chloride - Damn that sounds nasty, and a few people I have seen reviews from have mentioned that it has left them with a burning sensation. I have recently bought The Doc Johnson Anal Plug - But Plug which is a top 10 seller and have experienced no burning whatsoever. So my question is of the people who have used jelly toys who has experienced burning, after how long and in your opinion is this a common thing.

I burn from jelly toys. It usually happens within five minutes of use. It seems to be fairly common, but not so much so that it happens to everyone.

For what it's worth, even if you don't burn the jelly toy is still possibly leaking chemicals which are getting into your body. They're porous and cannot be sanitized properly. They harbor bacteria and can lead to infection. So just something to consider even if you don't feel a burning sensation.

What sounds nasty about it, precisely? It simply describes the structure of the polymer (many vinyl subunits with chelated chlorine atoms). Shower curtains are made of PVC as well, you know. I don't recommend using it for sex toys, though...

The burning sensation is often caused by the plasticizer used to soften the PVC, rather than the PVC itself. Many products use "pthalates" as plasticizers. For products that say "phtalate-free", the plasticizer is unlisted and you'd have to contact the manufacturer to find out what it is.

Well, I wouldn't try one but I haven't heard of that exact reaction being super common or anything.

Indeed. I do like my polymers. It would be hard to much without them in fact.

Thanks for the responses. Still have not experienced any problems myself with burning but will monitor the situation.
