Pros and Cons of using Jelly toys

Contributor: ToyGurl ToyGurl
Everyone has contemplated buying a jelly toy once or twice. Why not? They are just so inviting, and come in the cutest colors! Well, the sad truth is that on a safety scale of 1-10, jelly comes in at a low rating of 2. Does this mean you should give up jelly completely, or just ignore the safety rating and buy your toy?

My girlfriend has an allergic reaction to jelly toys, so Silicone for us. Silicone is getting better with colors now.

I've honestly never tried a jelly toy, and from what I've heard, I don't plan on changing this. Silicone is more durable, doesn't smell, and comes in just as or almost as many colors as jelly toys do.

They definitely are. I remember a time when you could only find silicone to be clear, or flesh colored. But now they have some very vibrant colors.

Positives: They are cheap
Negatives: They are unsafe, they don't last, and many people have allergic reactions to them.

I never plan on buying a jelly toy!

So far, my wife and I have only purchased one really cheap toy, and that was made out of UR3. We bought it at a store, and didn't realize how cheap the material was. We always used that with a condom, and that was a big pain in the ass, especially once we found out that she was allergic to latex. We have a Goodfella arriving today, so once I get the review done, the other toy will be going in the trash.

i liked jelly toys when i first buy them, but I slowly begin to hate them when they start to break down after a few months. if i buy something that's worth some money, it needs to have long lifespan

I'm not a jelly fan. Now with the introduction of (slightly) safer materials such as TPR there really isn't any reason to get them.

With new silicone techniques "softness" isn't a big deal either, as they now have very soft very safe silicones! Yay!

I've only owned one jelly toy. That thing can just go die. I bought it from an inferior website a couple of years before discovering EF, and hated it from the moment it arrived - it was too big, smelled bad, and felt all greasy and gross! I didn't know too much about sex toys at the time, and thought that plastic, jelly, and rubber were the only materials they were made from (I'd heard about glass toys, but I figured that they weren't really meant to be "used" and were just a kind of sexual art), and so while I liked plastic just fine, I felt bummed that there weren't too many options with toys.

Thank goodness I found EF and discovered the whole slew of options out there! That jelly toy now basically sits around in my Box of Shame until I decide what to do with it - I'm thinking "dissection." I don't think I'll ever have another jelly toy.

I've owned one and I wouldn't do it again. There wasn't anything special about it that I couldn't have in a better material.

I have two jelly toys. My Trojan finger vibrator isn't too bad but my other is insertable. And after finding out the safety rating on jelly, I don't really want to use it anymore. Which makes me sad because it's a pretty decent vibe that I got for a fantastic price.

I'm thinking I should probably throw it out because I used it like a day or two before I realized I had a yeast infection.

I probably won't buy another jelly toy because I think it's too much of a hassle to mess with condoms. And I would like to be able to share to some extent.
