Why not VixSkin?

Contributor: potstickers potstickers
Looking around at various threads, I see that a lot of people specifically don't buy VixSkin toys. Besides them being softer than regular silicone, I can't see any real negatives that aren't simply personal preferences. I know that the softness is a plus in my book. They come in realistic and non-realistic shapes and colors, so that can't be the issue. Since it's still silicone, the toys are just as easy to clean and sterilize.

Is there something I'm overlooking? Why do people not like VixSkin?

I absolutely love my VixSkin toy! However, they do require a little more care so that the material keeps its shape and does not get punctured or torn. For example, I can keep my other silicone toys in a drawer not in a specific container (as I have to do with my Vixskin Johnny). Maybe I am just being extra cautious though...

I'm not aware of any widespread negative opinions about VixSkin at all. All the discussions/opinions I've read thus far tout VixSkin's excellence as a dildo material. I have three VixSkin toys, and they're my favorite silicone dildos! I definitely want to add even more VixSkin to my collection. They're worth every cent.

I don't think anyone here has anything against VixSkin because it's made of fabulous silicone! It's probably the lack of options when it comes to size that keeps people at bay (like me). I simply just cannot use the majority of them.

I don't know why anyone would have a problem with it. I have heard lube doesn't like it much and that the inner firmer core can be a bit hard for some people? But I just got my first Vixskin toy. The Goodfella and I have been blown away by it!
It doesn't smell like some of the skin like materials can. It feels incredibly real in your hand and inside you and It really does hold body heat! I can't say enough great things about Vixskin and I'm looking forward to trying more Vixskin toys even though the Goodfella is going to be my favourite for the foreseeable future because it's just a perfect normal cock size!

I absolutely love VixSkin. True, I feel like we need to be a little more careful about storing it, but to me it's really worth it.

I don't like VixSkin! Or at least I'm not impressed with my first and only one. It's uncomfortable.

I don't like how it's got a firm core with a squishy surface. I prefer normal silicone or the total flexibility of real skin feeling Cyberskin! I guess I like my toys to be consistant right through.... if that makes sense.

I'm not keen on the rubbery feel. Just not a texture I'm thrilled about.

What do you guys mean about being 'careful about storing it' specifically..?

Since the outer core of the silicone is soft, if anything presses against the soft material, it could leave behind indentations. Depending on their size, VixSkin dildos come in either a clear cylindrical tube with plastic end caps or a plastic clamshell container. Both types are great to keep for storage to ensure that nothing can press against the soft material. (The smaller and regular-sized dildos come in the tube while the larger ones with balls come in a clamshell container.)

Vixen Creations also recommends storing their VixSkin dildos standing upright. I'm not sure why, but I think it is to help them keep their shape better (though it is hard to imagine how they could lose their shape as they do NOT seem fragile). Some people do not bother to store them upright though, and they have not reported any problems. I personally store mine standing upright in their containers because I love them too much to risk any changes to their shape (mine are all in a canvas tote inside their plastic containers, and I keep the canvas tote sitting upright).

Besides the minor storage issue, I haven't read anything bad about Vixskin. I should be ordering the Goodfella in the next few weeks.

Honestly, I figured not as many people owned VixSkin simply because of the cost. I haven't tried one yet, but I think Goodfella will be the one I get as well.

I don't currently have any VC toys because of their size and price. But I have heard that people don't like VixSkin because the outer core is so soft and squishy. So if you like a diameter of 1.5", it is best to get a VixSkin toy with a 2" diameter. I have never had a straight answer on this though. Being someone who simply cannot handle larger toys (basically anything above 4.5" circumference), I would really like confirmation.

I never thought about that. I'd also like to know if people have to order up a size to get their preferred girth.

Hmmm . . . I wouldn't say that I've had to size up to get my preferred girth because I love my 1.5-inch diameter VixSkin Tex, and 1.5 inches is typically my "preferred" diameter.

I would say, however, that if you are wanting to order something a bit more filling than you are accustomed to, VixSkin would be a fantastic choice because the softer material would be extremely helpful in allowing you to take the increased diameter more comfortably. I have the VixSkin Johnny, which is one of my thickest toys. I have other toys that are also thick yet much firmer (one is an extremely firm silicone with no give and the others are wood), but it is my plush and squishy VixSkin Johnny that is my go-to for when I want to be stretched. It is MUCH less painful.

We love out VixSkin Johnny - it's 100% better than standard silicone silicone which is too hard.

For VixSkin, I think it is fairly safe to go by what you typically like for silicone toys. You could, most likely, even order a slightly larger diameter because the softness will help you take it better. I wouldn't gauge the diameter you prefer by checking the diameter of your favorite glass, metal, wood, or hard plastic toys though. Completely non-yielding materials feel MUCH thicker than they really are.

Thanks for clarifying!

"Completely non-yielding materials feel MUCH thicker than they really are." That actually makes a lot of sense. My Ella and Tantus Throb (which I gave away) felt much thicker than my Tantus Buzz. I didn't understand why since all three have the same circumference of 4". The softer material of the Buzz makes it easier for me to handle, even with the 4.5" semi-pronounced head.

Thanks for answering.

I am most comfortable with a 4 1/2 circumference. I'd like to begin trying more filling toys. I tried a 5" circumference glass dildo and it was too much for me. Now I'm really considering Vixskin Tex because it's squishy, and still has a pronounced head. Thanks!

I've never heard of anyone having any particular problems with VixSkin, aside from possibly damaging the soft material by storing in close proximity to toys of other materials. I just got my Raquel and am currently storing it in its original casing so it doesn't get damaged.

I have yet to try vixskin because of the price and because they do not look very realistic which is a major concern for me when shopping. I have heard good things about how they FEEL very realistic which is great and also at the top of my list of concerns, but look and feel are both important for me. I have seen more cyberskin and UR3 toys that LOOK realistic and have yet to see one vixkin dildo that is colored realistically. Yes I suppose "beige" counts as realistic, but when you look at, for example, the cyberskin dream dick, the detail is something to admire. The head should be a slightly different color than the shaft and I also prefer to see and feel veins when you run your hand along the shaft. I haven't seen this in any of the pictures of vixskin toys or in video reviews.

Indeed. Price is really the only major problem I have with VixSkin. Still, I can't sing enough praises for my Spur. If he ever gets damaged (I hope not - I try to take good care of him!) I'd shell out for another in a heartbeat.

I've got two Vixskin toys and I absolutely love them! I don't mind that they take up a bit of extra space because I keep most of my toys in their original packages anyway. Sure, they're pricey, but I think they're well worth it.

I think it's the price, there are still other toys out there that aren't as much of a commitment. But if you are serious about toys and longevity, safety etc. You'll almost always end up going to either vixskin or the o2 line. I've had a couple dildos and one I suspect having phthalates in it. It wasn't sold on this site so I couldn't ever be sure.

My next purchase will be vixskin whenever EF carries the bandit.

I got my first VixSkin toy this month. I am in love with it. I got the Mustang, and it is unbelievable! I'm going to go with the Goodfella next, I think. My Mustang feels so fantastic.

I hadn't heard about storing them upright or in their original containers, so I haven't been doing that. I guess I might need to make some changes though, because I definitely do NOT want him to get damaged!

I've heard glowing reviews and honestly wouldn't even consider those other materials that aren't safe. that is very important to me. the fact that they are a 10 on the safety scale AND am told they feel the most authentic seems like they are worth every penny.
