The only time packaging matters for me is for glass toys, because I like to have something on-hand to store them in to keep them from scratching. So I prefer Phallix, Xhale, Don Wands, and SSA glass over something like Icicles which comes in foam.
Other than that, I usually throw packaging away, so it's not really a concern.
Well, storable packing can be nice. Like for the Metal Worx stuff... okay, maybe sometimes
It can, but I had to REALLY want the toy if the packaging made me decide to get it, because I never justify buying something I won't like for pretty packaging, unless it is cereal and I am 10 and want the PowerPuff Girls box
Does box art on a toy alter your opinion of it or provoke you to buy it? I buy stuff if it has anime characters on it just because i love anime stuff.
Not at all. I am more drawn to bright colored toys, but the package is not what I am buying or using so it's not something I care about. However, if I'm going to pay $100 for a dang toy, I do expect some class and discretion with the packaging!
The packaging had never effected my decision to buy something, but once or twice my opinion of the company/toy has been effected by it once it arrived. Eco-friendly and easy-to-open packaging are awesome!
If the packaging is just incredibly beautiful, the artist in me can't say no to good design, BUT if I don't want the toy or it's too expensive I won't get it. Funny packaging always gets me too, I'll buy a crappy cheap thing if the packaging is super funny.
If I'm in a store then without a doubt, even subconsciously, cheep packaging makes the toy look cheep. Online it doesn't matter quite as much but its a big plus if I can keep the package and use it for storage.
