Pictures of Girls on Packaging?

Do you think they should put pictures of beautiful women on condom packaging? And what about packaging for toys? I wouldn't think it's exploitation, or anything negative. I am wondering, however, if it helps represent the product in a different light, and I wonder what the public thinks about it. I do find the girls on the Vivid condoms quite attractive and I think they make good representatives for the product.

The packages without the photos are nicer, but the ones with photos don't offend me at all.

I prefer no photos of girls in my packaging but I don't despise it when there are some. In my experience, it's generally the cheaper toys that have cheesy photos of girls on them (and some get pretty cheesy!). The high quality stuff (like LELO or Zini Roae) tends to be very simplistic and elegant.

I don't necessarily mind the girls on packages (Cal Exotics seems to use them an awful lot), but if you want to keep the original packaging for storage, it does make them a little less discreet. If it's a toy named after/for a specific star, then it makes sense at least.

I generally dislike pictures of sexy ladies on sex toy packaging, unless they're toys geared towards men. I don't need to feel objectified when I'm buying a toy for my own sexual pleasure, thanks.

Honesty, I care not one whit if there are pictures of girls on the packaging. It's not packaging I'm after, ya know?

I'd rather there weren't any girls on the package, but it wouldn't stop me from buying the toy. Generally though, the more I pay for the toy, the less likely it is that women will be on the packaging.

I prefer them without. They're selling a toy - if they can't come up with a package that showcases the toy but instead they need pictures it seems like they're kind of trying to distract you from the toy.

That and it's a bit embarassing to show to my wife.

I always thought it was kinda funny how a product intended strictly for women has half-naked women on the package. That's how you sell beer and sports cars to straight men. We women do not need straight male advertising gimmicks to get our attention, we're not wired like that no matter our orientation. Also gives the impression that the makers don't give a shit who they're marketing to. "Naked Chick = Sex Toys/Porn/Naughty Crap"

Hmm. Doing an actual study into toy packaging and consumer attraction in brick and mortar stores. Gary ... ?

I don't really like pictures of women on packages, because usually those packages contain products that are of low quality.

Exactly.

The naked women on the boxes is a good part of why I was afraid to buy a toy for so long. It just looks sleazy.

I hate it whenever the package is covered in sleaze like that. I live in a dorm and I've gone so far as to take apart boxes and reassemble them inside-out so that no one sees the naked girls in my trash.

I live with two housemates on a college campus and this exact scenario has preventing me from buying anything. I would be too afraid to throw away the packaging, but I also wouldn't want to hide it all in one of my drawers. Plus, as someone mentioned before, I don't really want to be objectified when buying a toy for my own gratification, thankyouverymuch Simple and elegant packaging would be so much more appealing!

It is. There are some packages that make me feel like a "dirty old man".

Do you have a paper shredder? If not you really should get one for multiple reasons, if so you can shred your boxes.

Seriously, photographs of couples or just women on packaging is so tacky. That's almost an immediate turn-off for me when selecting a product. And as mentioned before, the higher quality stuff usually uses elegant, nondescript packaging.

I find it cheap, tacky and tasteless. If I get a toy with packaging like that I dispose of the packaging immediately, it's just not discreet, the pictures almost always look sleazy and I don't see the point in having them on the packaging. I've also only really seen packaging like that on the cheaper toys. Any high quality toy I've seen does not resort to naked people on their packaging.

We've always thought the pictures were counterproductive as well. When you go looking for a vibrator, massager, or anything else, you're more interested in the product features and qualities, not the girl on the package. We are always amused by the photos that show them "in-action" as if seeing that proves the product will clearly work for you!

The only exception we've seen is with harnesses or other accessories where the use/options may not always be obvious. Some of the photos help give you ideas on ways to really enjoy the product, but it's not a huge selling point.
