I think people may be responding to two different questions here. Let me explain:
To some a cock ring is a stretchy device that wraps tightly around the cock - and often has a vibrator attached to it.
To others (including me) a cock ring wraps around the top of the cock - and around the balls. This type does not usually come with a vibe attached.
As for the cock-only rings - I don't like them, nor does my spouse. I don't think there is any issue having an orgasm with one on as Blackxxxrose suggested - but we just don't like them.
For us older guys as described by RonLee - the cock-and-ball rings are useful in maintaining firmer erections longer.
